(4,959 posts)Even to this day, despite polls and actual results, people express surprise about the level of support he's getting from Black voters. In 2016 it was even worse - his support among POC was obviously lower that time around, but it wasn't nonexistent. He has learned a lot since 2016 and has brought a lot of POC into his campaign. From the sounds of it, they have taught him a lot about intersectionalism. He needed it.
As a white person I am not sure if I have the position to say this, but what I'm hearing from the Black people who are working with his campaign and giving him endorsements, he is earning Black votes by both his policies and his behavior (eg empowering POC within his campaign, and learning from his past mistakes). He is not taking anything or anyone for granted.
