Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumWe have to look at Elizabeth Warren's accomplishments.
Elizabeth Ann Warren (née Herring; born June 22, 1949) is an American politician and former academic, serving as the senior United States Senator from Massachusetts since 2013. She was formerly a law school professor specializing in bankruptcy law. A member of the Democratic Party and a progressive, Warren has focused on consumer protection, economic opportunity, and the social safety net while in the Senate. Warren is also a Democratic candidate in the 2020 United States presidential election.
Warren is a graduate of the University of Houston and Rutgers Law School and has taught law at several universities, including the University of Houston, the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Pennsylvania, and Harvard University. She was one of the most influential professors of bankruptcy law before beginning her political career. She has authored five and coauthored six books, and written dozens of articles.[3]
Warren's first foray into public policy began in 1995 when she worked to oppose what eventually became a 2005 act restricting bankruptcy access for individuals. Her national profile grew during the late 2000s following her forceful public stances in favor of more stringent banking regulations after the 200708 financial crisis. She served as chair of the Congressional Oversight Panel of the Troubled Asset Relief Program and she proposed and established the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, for which she served as the first Special Advisor under President Obama.
This is one smart woman who should reign high in the polls.

She also got bi-partisan support for a bill that passed to allow Americans to purchase hearing aids at local stores reducing the cost to the American people by over $1000's. Then got unfairly attacked for her detailed plans while other candidates revealed nothing of substance on theirs plans.

she's clearly the best candidate in my opinion. I'll vote for her in 6 days (NC). But I am discouraged by the polls.

(383 posts)She and Sanders have been my two favorite senators since college. A warren/sanders or sanders/warren ticket that wins will be the best thing for this country since FDRs New Deal.

Bernie with boobs.
Many of them show no ability to comprehend the fact that Sanders has based his economic policy positions that they like so much in the decades of painstaking research and work performed by Warren and other academics.

(113,048 posts)The poster said only Bernie blah, blah.... I corrected him to add that Warren focuses on these policies, and his reply was that she only started talking about these policies and that she was pretty quiet about it before she started running as Bernie light.
A real WTF moment.
Warren has victories to show for her fights. All the credit with most of the online Sanders supporters goes to TALK while action is pointedly ignored and even mocked as an impostor trying to steal Bernies ideas.
If anything, Bernie has been lifting from Warren and other academics who did the heavy lifting for years to gather the data and form remedy proposals that would shape the policy positions of politicians.
Hailing and boosting talk as superior to action is a pretty twisted award system, imo.

It really is amazing to me that she isn't doing better in the polls and voting than she has been. Last fall she appeared to be on her way to running roughshod over the whole process. She's the only candidate I've sent a contribution to, and I'd be thrilled to see her sworn in come January.

(4,238 posts)Bernies ideology, but with accomplishments. She has done more in the short amount of time that she has been in office than many of the other contenders. She has a bold and progressive vision which she has proven she can implement, something Bernie has struggled doing.
Im amazed that the mayor of a town the size of a sports stadium with little experience is ahead of her. Its infuriating. Shed make a phenomenal President.
