BRILLIANT answer from Biden when asked what he'd do if Trump loses but refuses to concede,

during tonight's CNN town hall.

CNN Politics tweet with video of that question and Biden's answer (which was much longer than what's quoted in the text of the tweet):

If I were to vote in a presidential

To me it is a question for internet message boards, and lunch tables, just for laughs. There was a fake news story that President Obama would refuse to leave office if Trump was elected (turned out not be true ).

It was embarrassing, but not surprising these days, to see someone actually ask VP Biden this question.

Not in an off handed way. It is a Trump applause line.

Friends of Trump have said they do not believe Trump will leave the White House if he loses.

Trump is also calling, again quite publicly, for "his people" to support him if that happens.

There is no validity comparing the integrity of Obama to the integrity of Trump, even quoting a "fake news story" (an interesting phrase, isn't it?).

The question does indeed set up an applause line, as it should.

Welcome to DU.

In the story I referred to, I think it was certifiably fake:

I am not comparing the integrity of Obama to the integrity of Trump, but I think there is validity in comparing common conspiracy theories.

I think that if Trump lost the Election, say to Joe Biden, yet refused to concede, it might go to the courts. If Biden is President Elect, I think that he would be able to order the Secret Service to remove Trump and his people from the White House and the rest of the Executive Branch. It could be a real Constitutional crisis. It would probably be backed by the Supreme Court in some way.

It would sort of be like an administrative transfer, but with one unwilling party, ie Trump and any of his people still there with him. That would be a heck of a thing for the history books, and would be quite a cap on the corrupt Presidency of Donald Trump. So, if Joe were President Elect, he would order Trump removed from the White House at some point. Again, I think it would be the Secret Service that would do it, given that they are the ones in charge of security at the White House, and would now be under Biden's command. I do imagine that there might be some action by the Supreme Court prior to the removal to make it clear and legitimate.

i.e. the entire defense and security apparatus of the federal government.

I have no idea what kind of childish thinking is required to believe the "occupant of the White House" somehow remains president despite the unambiguously clear words of the Constitution as to what happens on January 20 every four years.

Removing an unarmed individual from the White House, who has no legal authority to command anyone, doesn't strike me as a difficult job.

I would love to see Trump escorted out of the White House. The irony is that if such a thing actually occurred, it would probably be the Secret Service that would do it. That would be a great thing for the history books- Trump escorted out of the White House by the Secret Service.

Trump's "administration" is the most corrupt in American history. The only figure in American history that is similar is Boss Tweed, the Corruption King who ran Tammany Hall in the 19th Century. He ended up dying in jail in New York. Once Trump is removed, I suspect that once he is no longer President there will be a number of serious criminal and civil investigations of him.

A sitting President can not be indicted, only impeached. Once Trump is out, the Prosecutors in New York and other jurisdictions will be unleashed. We need to start working on how we hold Trump accountable for his numerous crimes. Trump will go down in history as a heinous, corrupt figure, and his Presidency will be nothing more than a stain in the history books. Hopefully, he will be investigated criminally and civilly after he is out of office.

I hope that Bernie and Warren can put their egos in the background and come together as a team. But let's be serious....it won't matter. Democrats have a terrible history of actually voting, we would have won the Electoral College in 2016 if the Dems sitting at home would have voted....but they were just too busy I guess.

I've been voting for 33 years and the Democrats have been disappointing me for 33 years. Either we lose because WE don't vote, or we win and then try to work across the aisle and end up losing in bi-partisan deals. Obama was a lame-duck president after 2 years because he wasted time trying to placate Mitch McConnell. Most of the things he passed he did so with executive orders.

The only way we win this thing is if our lazy fellow Democrats actually go vote. And that's the sad truth. It's never the republicans who cause us to lose, it's our own party.

I think this is yet another example of Biden thinking that he can work with the status quo, and govern sensibly. Do we really think that the obsequiousness of the current power block, would stay cowed and unable to act. Maybe, maybe not. Given what has been going down in this government (?) for the last 3 years, I have very little trust that our 250 + years of institutions and laws can take care of the situation in the way we would expect it too. The comb-back guy really thinks that he can get away with anything. After all, he has the evidence that that is so.
