Democratic Primaries

I know that DU is not representative of the Democratic Party electorate as a whole, but we tend to skew toward the moderate side in the universe of Democratic activists. The fact that only 1% of DU members on this forum pick Bloomberg as their first choice should tell us something. All the money in the world can't buy voter enthusiasm.

(8,052 posts)I started off Undecided and I think people thought I was a Bernie troll, moved to Klobuchar and everyone was nice, moved to Bloomberg (because that's who I voted for, ultimately, in early voting) and it kind of opens you up to some harassment. I was thinking of switching back to undecided just so I wouldn't be a target or have people misread me. Point is, you can't really go by what picture people have at the bottom.

(22,912 posts)It gave me slight pause to shift from Warren to Sanders rather than neutral. Still 13% of us are sticking our necks out on DU for Bernie. 1% for Bloomberg is pretty damn low.

(8,052 posts)All I had to do was be new here AND make the occasional positive comment about Bernie to have other posters look at me sideways (I do like Bernie), but now you guys have strength in numbers, so there's that.

Socialist Sanders will sink our party that he cares little about until he wants to use it to run for president.

(23,384 posts)I think its a matter of his not being a sort of Democratic Party personage and having donated to Republicans. Had he espoused the same policies and been a Democrat and not donated to Republicans since say 2005, he might have a lot more support among some Democratic Party moderate activists.
