Poll Shows Biden Stronger In 10 Battleground States

Poll Shows Biden Stronger In 10 Battleground States

"SNIP.....

A new Yahoo News/YouGov poll suggests that Bernie Sanders could be a riskier nominee than his supporters are willing to admit. In a national trial heat with President Trump, Sanders led 48% to 42% among registered voters. Yet when the playing field was narrowed to the 10 states that were closest in the 2016 presidential election and that will likely decide 2020 — Michigan, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Florida, Minnesota, Nevada, Maine, North Carolina and Arizona — Sanders’s lead over Trump was slashed in half (48% to 45%). That 3-point gap was within the margin of error.

In contrast, Joe Biden led Trump by 9 points nationally (50% to 41%) and by 7 points (50% to 43%) in the battleground states.

Both Elizabeth Warren (47% to 45%) and Pete Buttigieg (46% to 44%) performed about as well as Sanders in the battleground states. The weakest performer was Michael Bloomberg (43% to 43%).

(caging, purging, microtargeting, etc.) and pick a nominee who wins by the widest margins. There’s a reason Trump was willing to be impeached to try to sink Biden, and why they had to make up stuff about him rather than rely on facts. They are terrified of losing to him.

I saw a poll today that had Biden up by a point over Trump in Texas. Texas! I’m not saying it will hold until election day, but imagine making Republicans have to spend money to save Texas.

but the idea of having two white males on the ticket doesn't sell well on DU. We need to pick the best candidates and I have a lot of respect for Beto's views on foreign policy and military affairs. If something did happen to Biden while he was president, I'm confident that Beto could step into the role and lead.

everyone and treating them with respect had him on an uphill trajectory. Then came the Cruz FB smears. Like no one thought bad until then. And the gun comment solidified it all.

As Texas becomes more liberal in the next cycle hopefully, this all won't matter. I was just disappointed that we had a spokesman for decency and the truth and then it all fell apart.

Biden is up one in Dipshit matchup in TX. Like that matters once trump unleashes his fake dirt.

a segment those disaffected gun-owning Republicans who are leaning towards voting Joe. But I can’t gauge the turnout boost Beto would give the ticket vs. the diminishment of the crossover vote.

A lot of people are suggesting Kamala Harris, and with her background as a prosecutor, that might play a little better with crossovers. But again, I can’t gauge the level of quiet racist resentment that might dissuade Texans from her. Overall she seems like more of a positive, but I’m in Oregon so WTF do I know.

If we do manage to turn Texas blue, it would be a game-changer. Trump would have no path to victory. If he has coattails maybe we could fix the gerrymandering and voter suppression problems there.

20. Aggregate polls of battle ground states are useless
Fri Feb 28, 2020, 08:20 PM

You need to look at each state individually, as in some battleground states, all Dems have significant leads over Trump. Averaging support across 10 states dilutes the margins of states where Dems are winning big, and exaggerates leads where Dems are weakest.

Regardless of who the nominee is, unless a recession/corona virus severely damage Trump’s support, the general election will come down to Wisconsin and a couple of other states, perhaps PA. Depending on who the nominee is, we may be surprised to see some unexpected states come into play.
