Once again, zero evidence of mischievous crossover voting having an impact

There's about as much evidence for substantial mischievous crossover voting in open primaries as there is for voter fraud in general elections.

Like voter fraud, mischievous crossover voting merely serves as a ready-made excuse for supporters of a particular candidate.

Still, I'm sure we'll be hearing the same preemptive excuse-making in another 4 or 8 years, as we do every primary season. Que será, será.

3. Actually, we don't know that and neither do you.

South Carolina doesn't have party registration. What proof do you have that Republicans didn't vote in the primary? I'll answer that - none.

The exit polls should provide some info if they ask about party affiliation, but at the moment, unless you know something the rest of us don't, your assertion has no basis.

13. Do you think a crossover voter would talk with an exit pollster? No, not a chance!

4. Trump openly calls for it from his supporters

but they're probably too dumb to figure out how to do it in significant enough numbers to make a difference

8. Historically, there's no evidence of mischievous crossover voting having an impact.

This year wasn't going to be any different no matter what Trump called for.

There are always some people who vote in the primary for the party to which they are not affiliated, but 1) the number who do so is small and 2) their votes tend to be distributed (they aren't mischievously coalescing around a certain candidate).

Every 4 years, regardless of which party is having a primary, this discussion gets reenacted.

9. Every 4 years, people in both parties call for mischievous crossover voting.

Calling for something and it actually having a noticeable impact are 2 completely different things.

Historically, there is zero evidence for it having a substantial impact.

But, as with voter fraud, peeps gonna believe what peeps gonna believe.

11. CNN has reported exit poll results

that include party registration, liberal to conservative self identification, liberal to conservative direction preferred, and whether they’ll vote for the Dem in November.

The numbers may have changed from when I heard the results but at that time there were obvious repugs or repug leaning “no party”s who voted in the Dem primary. Unless there is another way to explain the number who said they wouldn’t vote for the Dem in November.

12. If Bernie just squeaks over the 15% threshold then even small crossover may have had a huge impact

Right at this time Bernie at 17.9% that’s likely too large....
But if the final is 15.5%, crossover may have pulled Bernie over the threshold
