(58,785 posts)targets -- -- they bond to the tissues and no amount of truth can eliminate them.
Some will always refuse to understand that, while Schultz did some things she shouldn't have, they not only weren't a fraction as bad as Sanders told them, but that they weren't a tiny fraction as bad as many things Sanders has done with their approval. She is the very epitome of democratic principle compared to him. And they won't notice how many of the targets he sicced them on were women or wonder what in themselves made them so receptive.
Sanders didn't just give others Trump, McConnell and a far right-dominated courts, and he didn't only do enormous damage to progressivism in America that serves others, he knowingly did that to all his supporters.
And we don't know if we'll be able to recover or if progressive government in America, including the national healthcare he uses as a shiny object to distract so many of his own followers with, is already doomed.

(1,737 posts)We love Debbie. Therefore, Sanders or anyone who tries to belittle her will be at their own peril here. I'm no longer in her district but she's still my congresswoman. The fact that she has kept her seat despite the smears and being primaried, should be a clue to the clueless.
I believe this will carry weight here in S. FL. In fact, I'm now for the first time in this primary season leaning towards Biden. I was opposed to Biden entering the race. I was Harris then Warren supporter, then undecided but Biden has shown that he has the tenacity, he has the grit and he's the unifier who will heal our party and the nation. We need to tear down walls and build bridges. Sanders is not the person to do that. A candidacy built on division cannot unite the country.

(13,924 posts)After her game playing against some 2016 candidates and her resignation, she is not my favorite.
Or was that just political gamesmanship like the prez..?

(1,737 posts)Your links rehashing 2016 is referenced in my reply and my rejection of the Russian's divisive campaign is still fresh in my memory.
She is beloved in South Florida. I didn't say she's loved by ALL. Nobody is loved by ALL. I'm too much a pragmatist to speak in such extremes. Furthermore, it's implied that she isn't loved by all if she's being smeared and primaried.
However, the proof of the love and respect I expressed, is in the actual votes. She has kept her seat since the 2016 smear campaign and has survived being primaried by a progressive. Again, I will say that she is beloved in South Florida. If I still lived in her district I'd happily vote for her. But I'll most enthusiastically vote for my congressman Ted Deutch instead.

(10,500 posts)The DNC rigging the 2016 primaries, or even attempting to influence them, is not a real part of American history. The false claim that they did so IS a real part of American history.
It is sad that so many people fell for this nonsense. And it is even sadder that Vladimir Putin's manipulations were portrayed as truth telling.

(10,500 posts)First of all, Donna Brazille was not DNC chair when anything was supposedly being rigged.
Second, she makes a big deal about a deal that Clinton signed with the DNC to raise money. But Bernie signed a similar deal. And any influence over the DNC did not take place until she became the de facto nominee. Not that there was anything the DNC could do to help her much, given its relative unimportance.
Third, Donna Brazille's real bombshell was that she herself seriously considered throwing out the will of the people, when Hillary had a sick day on 9/11, and handing the nomination to Joe Biden.
The media wanted blood after Hillary lost. It was kind of similar to those 5 days between Iowa and New Hampshire in 2008, when they were just determined to pile on and spew out as much hate as possible, with the election results allowing them to declare their hatred to be validated. Donna Brazille gave them, and a lot of other people, what they wanted. Telling the story she told got her recognition, praise, and book sales.
I don't even know if it deserves to be called "lies"--it was just a bunch of nonsense.

(10,500 posts)Not that an impotent, toothless organization like the DNC can influence the race too much, assuming they even wanted to.

(4,875 posts)it took me a while to settle into Biden after she left the race. Like you said, Biden is a unifier and has the best chance to beat 45. Hoping now he chooses Harris as his VP, if she wants it, I think they would be unbeatable.
Polls in Florida not looking good for Sanders. Thank you for your input from a Floridia.
