How might I describe a liberal media or political player who tilts toward "the establishment"?

Someone who, back when Obama was trying to get Congress to repeal the Bush tax cuts, would argue that they should not be repealed on those with a household income up to $250,000 a year, because that would "punish the middle class." That at a time when the Federal minimum wage remained well below ten bucks an hour. Democrats used to own the loyalty of most of the working class, when we unquestionably stood for the common "man", but that was a former time.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

However, I’ve seen that label upset people too.

But it's the behavior not the labels that matter. That whole thing about the "$250,000 middle class tax cut" kind of says it for me. That huge blind spot about families without $400 to spare.

A moderate one for sure - one very unlikely to pass your purity test but still one we need to win the WH and Senate.

But I think the era when DLC type politics could reliably deliver winning majorities is in the rear view mirror.

There is nobody else that will deliver those majorities. Bernie can tell you all about that.

Caring enough to actually prioritize the needs of working families seems to be radical now.

But that's like lumping Michael Moore in with Clint Eastwood as "well established" film makers regardless of whether one attacks the status quo and the other defends it. Sanders is a life long activist against the prevailing social order who uses politics as his means for change. He is successful in politics yes, but I don't think most people equate mere success with "establishment".
