Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumGOP voting booth tactics
This from someone in rural rural northern California:
"4th election in a row our polling workers, all old, MAGA demographics folks, tried screwing with our ballots. Putting our standard ballots into the provisional ballot box, trying to say my wife and son weren't registered, etc.
Yesterday, they gave my wife a Republican ballot, we're registered Democrats and Ca has closed primaries. She didn't notice, except that Trump was on her ballot and her choice wasn't. So she wrote them in. She mentioned it when we got to the car. We already had our sample ballots filled out and she said the ballot wasn't the same. I realized what happened and we went back and fixed it."
They will cheat at every opportunity

(6,561 posts)we live in a safe, Democratic stronghold in Atlanta an the polling place is literally across the street at an elementary school. I don't actually trust them to get mail-ins any better, TBH.

Please everyone call them if you detect ANYTHING wrong at any precinct, registrar office etc. You were smart enough to figure this out, and that's great. But there are others who will fall for it for any reason, and we have to protect them,
PLEASE CALL ELECTION PROTECTION to let them know so that they won't try these kinds of illegal things.

(24,346 posts)And if they don't get results there, then take it to the public comments section of a Board of Supervisors meeting, or take it up privately with the Chairman of the BoS. The Bos hires and fires the Registrar. The things they described, if done intentionally, are not cheating, they are crimes.
I'm a former precinct inspector in Northern California.

(46,775 posts)They are probably popular in their communities, people know about their hi-jinx and they probably have family members connected to the supervisor of election's office.
If there aren't severe penalties, with someone willing to pursue legal action, their activities become the stuff of local legend.
That's why this type of behavior should never be tolerated.

(11,330 posts)Elections officials across the state are linking many of the reported complaints to the states new Motor Voter program, which launched ahead of the 2018 midterms to automatically register eligible voters when they visit the DMV. The 2015 law was designed to help boost participation, but a rushed launch prompted 105,000 registration errors to occur following its roll-out. https://www.sacbee.com/news/politics-government/capitol-alert/article238302243.html

(11,330 posts)As outlined in Election Code 12105.5(a), this is the list of poll workers assigned to work the March 3 Presidential Primary as of February 24. The list of poll workers who actually served on Election Day will be posted no later than March 31. https://www.cocovote.us/wp-content/uploads/Assigned_Poll_Workers__E_8__March_2020_-1.pdf

(6,561 posts)They had a separate local issues ballot that was not party specific and the primary one that was. They gave the wife the wrong primary ballot. When they compared their printed receipt (which should be mandatory everywhere IMO), to her sample ballot, it was not the same. They went back in and talked to the poll workers and she was finally given the right ballot and allowed to vote properly. I'd like to know what happened to the original ballot, however, and whether her "voting twice" will have future repercussions. We'll not ever know that I suppose

(11,330 posts)go to your county election site and check the names of the polling location workers, it must be published...in my county it looks like every polling location has a mixture.
Then sign up to be a poll worker for November and be there to make it right.
