Sanders didn't ask for Clyburn's endorsement before the South Carolina primary?

And his excuse is because he didn't think Clyburn would endorse him.

Seriously?

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

All this 3-word - "blah, blah, establishment" is beginning to border on a charlatan mantra and sure doesn't work for me.

The sloganeering being recycled from 2016 is totally deaf and blind to the REALITY that one CANNOT conflate "establishment" with voters. And the voters are seeing and speaking. Thank goodness!

It just goes to illustrate the validity and truthfulness of what a famous person said recently in a Hulu special documentary...

Shortly after THR's in-depth interview with Clinton was published on Tuesday, her comments about Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders — "Nobody likes him, nobody wants to work with him, he got nothing done," she says in the documentary — prompted the hashtag #nobodylikeshim to quickly became a top trend on Twitter.

Wed Mar 4, 2020, 11:30 PM
Mar 2020

Did he indeed ask the endorsement of the most respected and powerful black man in the state of South Carolina before the South Carolina primary? If you think it was fine that he didn't reach out to him, why are you so upset that I mentioned it? And if you don't think it was ok, do you think it should be ignored?

And demanding that everyone "start uniting" the same day that Sanders spent trashing Biden is pretty rich.

House Majority Whip James Clyburn has had many productive conversations with Sen. Bernie Sanders during their shared years in Congress. But when it came to seeking the influential South Carolinian's endorsement, the Vermont senator didn’t make a concerted effort.

“No, not really,” Clyburn told The Daily Beast in an interview when asked if Sanders or his campaign staff did anything specific to court him ahead of the influential Feb. 29 primary.

I had a lot of conversations with almost every one of the candidates,” he said, referencing nearly two dozen candidates, including Sanders, who attended his “World Famous Fish Fry” in Columbia in June.

But Clyburn acknowledged the outreach didn’t go much beyond that.

“I don’t need to be courted,” he said.

23. A key thing that prevented Bernie from winning in 2016 was lack of black support
Thu Mar 5, 2020, 12:15 AM
Mar 2020

Blacks supported Hillary and the states with large black populations basically seemed to shut Bernie out.
I was a Bernie supporter and watched it happen state after state.
Bernie tended to do well in the predominantly white states.

In Nevada this year, Bernie appears to have made some progress with Latinos.
That might be echoed by his results in California.
But the blacks in South Carolina slammed the door on him.

We saw it again last night in the states who were 15% or more black:
Alabama
North Carolina
Virginia
Tennessee
Arkansas

They basically seemed to say collectively "we're not having any part of you, Bernie!"

https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/politics/exit-polls-2020-super-tuesday-primary/#RACE
Exit poll shows 58% of blacks supported Biden, 17% supported Sanders - giving Biden a staggering +41 vs Sanders there.

Bernie may complain about "the Democratic establishment" shutting him out but the reality is, for whatever reason, blacks don't support him in the primary and they seem as big a reason as any he can't get over the top in the primary.

This provides serious headwinds for his 2020 primary chances because states with large black populations tend to be large delegate states. We saw this pattern in 2016 and it seems to be continuing in 2020.

Whatever overtures he attempted to address this clearly have not worked. And it has nothing to do with "the establishment".

I have 2 family members who head large non-profits. They've both tried to work with Sanders over the years, and their opinion is that he is intractable, totally incapable of compromise. Just want people to know that it is his personality - that it extends beyond his ideologies. My way or the highway in another country would be a dictatorship.
