Simple questions for Sanders supporters

If you want the senator to stay in the race can you please provide a path on which he can win the nomination. Facts and figures are appreciated. If you feel he should stay in the race for other reasons please feel free to use this thread to discuss them.

Voted for Sanders. There is always the possibility of divine intervention that Sanders will have the best debate in history in a one on one, and go on to win all remaining states. He deserves that chance at the debate. Barring that, withdraw next Wednesday after the next primaries.

He has pushed the party left and has given us hope that the age of centrist democrats may be ending. Not with Biden, but soon now.

Also, more EV means more clout at the convention. Sanders will get to lay a few planks in the party platform.

His staying in gives the protest vote an honest outlet that ultimately keeps them in touch with the party this cycle.

I say he has earned the right to stay in the race.

But this country is too far right wing, even setting aside the extreme insanity of Trump - we need to move significantly to the left. And people who are invested in centrist politics are not going to push us to the left - rather we will probably continue our national slope right wards.

So I favor him staying in through the debate, but then, assuming it has no effect, let him step out at that point.

Then again, I understand many Biden supporters don't want a debate - interesting that.

I hope that few here were bailing on Biden before SC just because he had had a couple of bad weeks.

If the convention were next month, I could see the urgency behind wanting Sanders to suspend his campaign ASAP. It is 4 months from now. If Biden can't bring the party together in 3 months and 3 weeks but needs the full 4 months, we have a problem.

But he should stay in the primary till the convention. So that his supporters in states that have not yet voted can get a chance to have their voices heard, and so that he can use what media coverage he gets to promote his issues.

Biden has all but won. He can ignore Sanders till the convention then get Bernies concession followed by an endorsement at that time.

The people calling for his concession just want to shut him and all of us up. It has nothing to actually to do with Beating Trump as we all know the majority of Bernie voters will vote Biden in the general just like we did for Hillary in 2016.

And I know the Bernie Haters will claim otherwise but we know that Bernie staying in the primary last time till the convention didn’t cost Hillary the election, and it won’t cost Biden the election either.

Michigan was decisive, as far as I'm concerned, and personally, I'd rather he bow out pretty soon, because I'd like the mudslinging from both sides to be over. But I don't think him staying in through Sunday's debate and another round of primaries causes any real problems at all. He's already listed a bunch of questions that he's going to ask in the debate, and frankly they're questions that Joe Biden ought to be able to really sink his teeth into. And if Biden is able to hammer those questions home, it will be a great opportunity to welcome and encourage and facilitate the eventual support of Sanders supporters. And that will be a good thing for us all, because as Bernie said in his speech today, nothing is more important than beating Donald Trump.

There are two things that are going to happen in November. Either dolt45 will be re-elected or he will not. Your feeling mocked has nothing to do with that fact.
Politics is a contact sport. It's all about building relationships with all kinds of people with all kinds of philosophies. Some are beautiful souls whom want nothing more but the absolute best for all people. Others are one note activists that only care about their pet projects. Still, some are just trying to get along with no particular passion about anything. Each group or person may respect your feelings and others will offer you a condom for you heart (fyf). It's past time for all those privileged enough to even consider staying home in November to deal with how the rest of us will see them. For me, that's a slight notch higher than a MAGAt.

At the debate, he's going to make his last pitch to the American people for his ideals (Democratic Socialism), but not for his candidacy, which he knows is virtually over.

Sanders’s remaining in the race should serve several salutary purposes for the party and the country. First, seeing him lose overwhelmingly week after week will dispel the notion that the Democratic Party has moved left, or that he is in a dominant position to negotiate with the overwhelming winner. It’s not clear why the Biden camp should “give” Sanders anything.

Second, it is good to keep Biden in fighting form, continuing to boost turnout and showing, as he did in Philadelphia, how presidential he is. Biden can pivot to the general election, essentially ignoring Sanders. (His planned speech on the coronavirus is the perfect opportunity to leave Sanders out of the discussion entirely.)....

Whoever is to replace Sanders as the standard-bearer for the left — hopefully someone as smart and wonky as Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) — will need to learn how to win elections. (Hint: It is not by scaring voters or attaching oneself to the socialist label.) When in office, a new generation of leaders on the left will need to learn the art of deal-making rather than waste years, as Sanders has, rabble-rousing but accomplishing nothing. Unlike Sanders, Warren (or whoever else takes the reins) will not be burdened by a record of reflexively praising dictators nor be driven to attack fellow Democrats.

Sanders will end the race at some point, a diminished figure. In retrospect, his wins in 2016 will be seen more as an anti-Hillary Clinton vote than a pro-Sanders vote. How he behaves at Sunday’s debate will determine whether he leaves a bad taste in the mouths of Democrats.
