Joe BidenCongratulations to our presumptive Democratic nominee, Joe Biden!

Bernie has signaled his intention to support Biden

by telling him in advance the questions he wants answered at the debate. He wants his followers to be reassured Biden will at least work on "some" of his policies. Why Biden won't just say that obviously the US would be better off with a Universal Health Care system, and that obviously that won't happen overnight but we will work towards it. If he'd say anything along those lines it would go a long way

I know he's still "old-school" and will probably never agree that health insurance as it exists needs to go but he needs to understand there is a fundamental problem with health insurance. Mine is $12,000/yr in premiums (for myself), and then a nearly $3000 deductible. Meaning, if I don't even see a doctor I still have to pay $12,000 but what am I getting for that? Nothing, nothing at all. It's catastrophic insurance at this point.

Last year I did have an event that put me in intensive care for a week, so I ended up with my deductible and max out-of-pocket being paid by May. The shock the first time I filled a prescription and was told "no cost" I was floored. Took me awhile to figure out why.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

1. Well argued.

The US healthcare system is ranked 37th for a reason.

2. Bernie is not in a position to demand that Joe address his agenda. Bernie lost.

What Bernie wants is not at issue any more.

We are facing the end of our Democracy. We don't have time to assuage egos and dither over participation trophies. We need to move on

And you have a lot more likelihood of getting some health care cost relief under Biden than under BS, who has never actually done anything to reduce healthcare costs in any of his 50 years in public office.

4. Maybe they could have a joint press conference

Sanders announces that he is suspending his campaign. He says in any other presidential primary he'd run it out to the end. But it's not like any other year. We have to get rid of Trump. The Corona Virus response was the last straw. The country is in danger. Joe agrees to use Bernie as a special advisor. Bernie agrees to rally his base around Joe.

6. Once we get Biden in office and a Senate majority for Sanders. . .

. . .Sanders can then rant all he wants about what he wants; he'd have a better shot at having some of his ideas considered.

9. A public option under Obamacare

and reinstituting individual mandates will fix that.

I don't know your age but between 45 and 65 (medicare age), it actually costs a lot more to insure people because that population has serious health issues. The antidote has been to have a lot of younger people insured to spread out the cost but the republicans removed the individual mandate and refused to allow medicaid expansions.
