40% of Washington's Democratic primary voters

voted for candidates who dropped out by this week.

That's problematic.

On the other hand, these things are somewhat unavoidable in a race with so many candidates.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Not much we can do if we want the general election voting to be easier.
Although spoiled ballot procedures must become widely available. It wont come up often, but in the Wellstone plane crash it came into play.

This time, I just figured Super Tuesday might be a tipping point. Turns out it was. I was prepared to vote Liz (Kamala was my original first choice) but after it came down to Bernie or Joe, I was glad I waited to cast my vote for Joe.

Next time probably won't start with so many candidates and hopefully isn't so chaotic.

The purpose of the primary system is to find out and thoroughly discuss those issues as a preamble to the selection of a national candidate and to define the direction the party will take during and after the election.

Presumably, the party leadership and the candidates will recognize the importance to the voters of those issues and will work to include them as they are what a significant number of party members feel strongly about and will be concerned to vote for in the national, and regional elections.

My biggest problem is that the figures for Washington State for the two viable candidates are a little screwy now. For instance, I went for Biden, but how many of Warren's supporters would have gone for Sanders?

I don't think that the primary process needs to be changed, but I don't like the way that figures have turned out for the state. Our delegates will be a little unrepresentative at the convention.

How the late vote is breaking heavily for Biden. Bernie picked up some of the post consolidation vote as well, but it was still something like a net of +14 for Biden. He estimated that if that margin holds, Biden will win WA by about 7 points.

If it was all same day voting it would have been a bloodbath for Sanders.
