Joe Biden adviser Larry Rasky dies.

https://www.bostonherald.com/2020/03/22/joe-biden-adviser-and-boston-pr-guru-larry-rasky-dies/

Rasky, 69, was the chairman and CEO of Rasky Partners, and had more than 30 years in the public relations business with offices in Boston and Washington.

Friends and co-workers said that in recent weeks Rasky had been extremely active with both business and his work helping to run a super PAC supporting Biden’s presidential bid.

“I’m devastated, absolutely devastated,” said Therese Murray, the former president of the Massachusetts Senate who went to work with Rasky after her career at the State House ended. “He was just a great guy, really. He had integrity and treated everyone so well. No matter who you were he treated everyone with respect. This is going to be really hard on his family and his work family.”

https://berkeleybeacon.com/emerson-trustee-and-alumnus-dead-at-69/

Emerson Alumnus and Trustee Emeritus Larry Rasky, 69, died Sunday morning at his home, according to a community-wide email from President M. Lee Pelton.
Rasky graduated from Emerson in 1978 with a communications degree, going on to lead several high profile political campaigns and then launching the Boston-based public relations and public affairs firm, Rasky Partners. While the cause of death remains unknown, Pelton said the college will share additional information as it becomes available.

“He was a great friend to the College as well as to many faculty, staff and students,” Pelton wrote in the campus-wide email. “He represented Emerson at its very best and he understood profoundly and personally the power of the creative arts, communication and liberal arts to shape societies and empower people.”

Rasky supported former U.S. vice president Joe Biden throughout his three presidential campaigns, served as communications director for John Kerry’s first Senate campaign, and worked for former president Jimmy Carter’s re-election campaign as deputy press secretary. With over 30 years of experience in media relations and public policy, Rasky was a well-known figure in the Boston community.

Just stumbled onto this article...it's quite long but even more sobering than lengthy so worth perusing at one's leisure since it's pretty important to all of us...

How the Pandemic Will End

https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2020/03/how-will-coronavirus-end/608719/

Saw the author on TV just yesterday and he was very impressive...really seemed to know his stuff. A science writer for several well-know publications and has several degrees in zoology and biochemistry.

He paints a pretty grim picture and was one of the ones who tried to warn us but few of us listened. Guess climate change wasn't a big enough challenge. Think I'll go read some history about the Black Death and cheer up a little.

Yeah, I guess this coronavirus thingy ain't so bad after all.

I will read it in increments.. have other stuff to do, too.

I posted this last night speaking of Pandemic Viruses.. the 1918 "Spanish" Flu which is a misnomer and the article tells why.

I think it's very interesting..

Why the Second Wave of the 1918 Spanish Flu Was So Deadly

https://www.history.com/news/spanish-flu-second-wave-resurgence

My paternal grandfather perished in it in 1919.

Scary thing is these viruses multiply fast so they are always mutating. Usually they are not harmful but since it mutates a lot it's only a matter of time before it develops into a real bad one. Sorry to hear about your Grandpa being one of the victims.

I've seen some fascinating documentaries in the past about how the Black Death otherwise known as the Bubonic Plague completely changed the course of human civilization. Here are a couple articles about it if you're interested...the first one is short and describes all the mostly good things that came about in its aftermath...

14 Ways The Black Death Directly Shaped The Way We Live Now

https://www.ranker.com/list/how-black-plage-changed-the-world/kellen-perry

This second one is a little longer and more scientific in nature...

The Bright Side of the Black Death

https://www.americanscientist.org/article/the-bright-side-of-the-black-death

Turns out the end result was for the most part very beneficial...assuming you were lucky enough to be one of the 1-in-2 or 1-in-3 who survived. Musta been scarier than shit back then, though...literally a living hell from the sound of it.

and loss of loved ones when you aren't allowed to be with them. I didn't realize when he was having trouble talking for a moment that he'd just lost someone else special in his life.

Mr. Rasky sounds like the kind of person Biden would have as a friend and close colleague.
