16. Calling anyone a "pain in the ass" is pretty disrespectful.

I thought there was a forum rule disallowing disrespect for public figures. Senator Sanders certainly qualifies as a "public figure." I've never alerted on a post, but these days I'm being tempted often.

47. Biden is the frontrunner.

There are too many primaries still left to vote, to not allow those voters to support their chosen candidate. If Biden had 1,991 confirmed delegates, I would agree with you. He doesn't and Senator Sanders supporters don't like being written off as inconsiquential. That is not the way to promote unity in the party. He offers a different perspective and it is an important perspective in this crisis period. I support the platform he promotes not simply a candidate. Why does it trouble you that I'm not a programable robot?

58. I believe the forum rule is about disrespecting Democrats, not "public figures."

Trump is a "public figure" as is Mitch McConnell and Rush Limbaugh. I doubt any jury on DU would delete a comment denigrating any of them.

Bernie it seems to me is in a grey zone. He says he's a Democrat but only when he's trying to win the Democratic nomination for Senate or President. In the past, as soon as he pushes out actual Democrats in the Vermont primary, he immediately switches back to being an independent, which is also what happened in 2016 after his presidential run.

Personally, I don't see him as a Democrat at all. He merely uses the label when convenient--as when wanting to gain access to mailing lists or--in the event he's nominated--control of the "establishment" infrastructure he is at such great pains to discredit and otherwise undermine.

As soon as this campaign is over--and it becomes evident even to Bernie that he's lost--we'll see him revert back to claiming he's too ideologically pure to be a Democrat.

Just as a bit of background: I voted for Bernie in my state's 2016 primary, and contributed to his campaign. I became disillusioned with him during the 2016 convention and afterwards, and have now drifted to a state where I actively dislike him. I imagine there are quite a few people who share this odyssey from enthusiasm to distaste. Which is why I know Bernie has little if any chance of winning the nomination, come what may.

18. Just today, Sanders email informed the second wave of charities funding has started.

First wave sent 6 million. This wave is for restaurant workers and six other Covid-19 support charities.

It was good to see how quickly the campaign adapted donation requests strictly towards the current crisis. Yang is also requesting donations through his new website, in a smaller way he's giving direct grants to Covid-19 affected families.

26. If this were the case, wouldn't it be wonderful if Bernie dropped out of the race and instead

started a charitable organization, so he didn't have to divide his efforts between campaigning and raising money? Wouldn't it be wonderful if his charitable organization were run by accomplished humanitarians rather than salaried political operatives? Wouldn't it be wonderful if he allowed you to make contributions to organizations of YOUR choice rather than HIS choice?

I posted this before:
Imagine Trump raising money for charities of his choice as part of his re-election campaign. Like gun-rights groups and anti-abortion groups, and, yes, meals on wheels thrown in the mix. They are all affected by the health crisis, and they are not exactly well off financially. Oh, and most of them are working people, who just happen to be Trump's political base. I am fine with raising money for charities. I am fine with raising money for a presidential campaign (well, sort of). But I am not fine with mixing the two together. Smacks of cheating, somehow.

36. several candidites 'suspended' their campaigns, they continue to 'raise money'

A “suspended” campaign isn’t technically terminated, at least not according to the Federal Election Commission’s rules. All the suspended campaign persons continue to retain their paid staff-it's legal.

https://www.fec.gov/help-candidates-and-committees/terminating-a-committee/

I've donated twice now to the charities just started to help people effected by the pandemic. I appreciate the campaigns efforts to assist some of the thousands of people who lost their income this past month.

44. Nine of them endorsed Biden after they suspended. And none use their campaign to raise money for

any purpose other than their respective campaigns. This is a far cry from Bernie's questionable tactics of using his active campaign to raise money for organizations of his choice.

Just consider the difference between YOU donating YOUR money to entities of YOUR choice and a professional politician donating YOUR money to entities of HIS choice.

I love the hypocrisy of :

After one Caucus and a couple primaries before any POC were heard, Sanders supporters cried for Joe to end his campaign.

Now after a diverse number of primaries where Bernie lost his ass, oops I mean posterior, they propose to keep his losing campaign in the face of huge loss, virus,
and costs of stringing out this to the dire end.

Such hypocrites.

10. The people have spoken in the electoral process that they want ACA back

They were quite open about it in 2018 and they have chosen Joe to restore it in 2020. Trump has just made it untouchable for current enrollment. Luckily the Democrats made som all costs are covered in the dealing with the Trump flu. He will set up more hoops and red tape to make it as inaccessible as possible. Italy has M4A, Spain has it. What we need is Democratic leadership that wouldn’t turn away the advice of Obama and Joe Biden on how to contain it before we have to face the death of 200k Americans. Italy has the ability to set up convoys of trucks taking bodies to crematoriums. That’s how universal healthcare works for them.

I use healthcare.gov each year to renew, check plans. all trump 'did' was shorten renewal time and remove the mandate people must have insurance. funny though the fine is still on the irs form.

I wouldn't believe anything trump says, some states have recently opened enrollment through healthcare.gov, worth checking there if anyones lost their job or lost employer insurance. That's called a 'life change' and can sign up anytime.

22. He always says the same things over and over. Boring Ass Derp Bot On Repeat.

Bernie Sanders Acknowledges 'Narrow Path' to Nomination (April 24, 2016)

'Are we getting the first preview of what a Bernie Sanders exit interview could look like? The Vermont senator seemed to have a more resigned tone on Sunday during an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Sanders conceded his campaign has only a “narrow path to victory” but that they would “fight…through that path. We hope to win.”

This was a different tone than the one he used just a few weeks ago when he confidently assured supporters, “We are going to win New York.” He ended up losing the state to Hillary Clinton by 16 points.'

"From Bernie’s perspective, dropping out of a race once you have no chance of winning is peculiar behavior that can only be explained by the work of a hidden hand. For most politicians, though, it is actually standard operating procedure. Only Sanders seems to think the normal thing to do once voters have made clear they don’t want to nominate you is to continue campaigning anyway."

"When things are not called by their right names, what is said cannot make sense. When what is said does not make sense, what is planned cannot succeed. When plans do not succeed, people become uneasy. When people are uneasy, punishments do not fit crimes. When punishments do not fit crimes, people cannot know where to put hand or foot."
