So Bernie press secretary Briahna Joy Gray official jumps on the Tara Reade train ...

This is just despicable. I'll vote for Bernie if he's the nom, but that's all I will do. Nothing else. This is despicable. That none of his supporters here will even address this just shows you how many of them are probably the ones on Twitter going on about this and are afraid of getting banned.

and this:

Come on, Bernie supporters here … how can you still support this candidate when two of his top three paid surrogates have pushed this obvious lie!?

I do not for a single second think that either Briahna, Nina, or, frankly, any Bernie supporter pushing this lie actually believes it. The story is just so filled whole wholes. Comparing this to Kavanaugh was ridiculous, and, frankly, much as I hated him, I thought even that was on shaky ground. When does this stop becoming about protecting women and start becoming about settling scores?

Does anyone remember the story of the Salem Witch Trials? Look how many had to die and/or be imprisoned because of how many believed those women. Not everyone is telling the truth.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

His press secretary is pushing this vile crap. She's basically the mouth of Sauron.

I am so beyond enraged about this and I see that yet another post addressing this Reade issue is ignored by the Bernie supporters here. For shame!

Frankly, I partly blame Alyssa Milano and #MeToo for this. They had to know on some level that they were creating a McCarythite-style situation where even innocence is not a defense. What should have been a way to help victims of abuse and assault has become just another way to take out one's political and economic enemies.

Read Paul Boyer and Stephen Nissenbaum's Salem Possessed. It'd dry as hell but it explains the Salem Witch Trials of 1692 in terms of these social conflicts. It wasn't rye bread that made those girls lie. The allegedly afflicted Abigail Williams herself said, "We do it for sport." The people in power took advantage of what these girls probably saw as their one chance at a meaningful life in a Puritan society where Children barely had any childhood at all.

When someone says, "why would so and so lie about ______," well, look to the trials. When every other motive is offf the table, good-old-fashioned attention is always on the menu and some just don't care how negative that attention is because they're martyrs to their own fantasies.

And the people that these crazy liars and those who seek to exploit them hurt the most are actual victims of sexual assault. And that is, perhaps, the most egregious facet of this.

However, in the article “Bring on the Light,” which Reade wrote in December of 2018, and has since deleted, she stated that she left politics and Washington DC because she was sick of American imperialism and because she “love[d] Russia with all her heart.”

” Also in an article she wrote on April 6, 2019, Reade claimed that she didn’t even know if Biden knows why she left working for him:

I wish I could say there was a happy ending, that Senator Biden apologized or that he helped make amends, he did not. I do not even know if he realized why I left.

But then in March of 2020, Reade says that Biden fired her:”

people are not allowed to decide for themselves who to believe and who not to believe. To Ms. Gray, if you do not believe Tara Reade's shaky story, you must be just the same as the Republicans who claimed not to believe Christine Blasey Ford. Here's the problem with that. Every Biden supporter that I know that doubts Ms. Reade supported Ms. Ford.

Apparently, in Ms. Gray's world, people, both men and women, must believe every sexual assault assertion ever made by any woman. In her world, no one is allowed to decide on a case by case basis. Our entire system of law is based on deciding things on a case by case basis. Ms. Gray's position is absurd.

People of good conscience can disagree on political positions and policies in a respectful way. That's not what's going on here. Bernie is apparently entirely comfortable with scorched earth if it gets him what he wants. If he destroys a good man's chance at the Presidency, so be it. I was no fan of Bernie to start with, but these days I find him disgusting and repulsive.
