Wed Apr 8, 2020, 02:52 PM
Apr 2020

Since I knew from , I believe Politico, before, yes before, Tuesday 4-7-20 - primary day, we can assume - with a level of nearly absolute certainty that Sanders and his campaign knew this fact before election day, as well. Yet Sanders waited until today - AFTER people physically went into voting lines in wisconsin - thus increasing their risk from COVID-19 and risk of death. In my view Sanders may have blood on his hands as a result of waiting until today to drop out. He has no excuse, he knew in advance that there would be NO results from WI primary UNTIL NEXT WEEK. Therefore his decision to drop out had NOTHING, NOTHING, to do with WI primary or its results. He could have dropped Monday or last weekend, but he didn’t. What a complete jerk!

However, one other important issue on the Wisconsin ballot was the SC judge being elected. The Dems really need to win that one. I think the truly unconscionable thing was the Republican state legislature that took the issue of a delayed primary all the way to SCOTUS! Gov. Evers tried to postpone it, but he was overruled. Sick.

What Joe Biden decides to do in the interim period before the convention remains to be seen, but I expect we'll be hearing more from him on a more frequent basis.

Look for him to comment more on the COVID-19 pandemic and the lousy job Trump is doing, although he won't say that directly at this point, since there are still sick and dying people everywhere. Instead, he will probably encourage people to keep up with the precautions most people are already taking and recommend other actions. He has a bully pulpit now, but not THE bully pulpit.

He's going to make a strong appeal for Democratic Party unity, and will be reaching out to others who may have made the mistake of voting for Trump. He'll do that by offering a solid alternative point of view, but not by calling on Republicans directly to switch horses.

Will the media cover him fully? That's a good question. I don't have an answer, given the pandemic coverage. It will depend on where Biden takes the conversation.
