Joe BidenCongratulations to our presumptive Democratic nominee, Joe Biden!

Wed Apr 17, 2019, 09:23 AM

Who will NOT support Bernie if he is the Democratic nominee?

In my opinion, Bernie is the clear favorite at this moment. He has a loyal base from his last run. I don't see any candidate in the mix at the moment that can compete with him. Are we ready to support Bernie if he is the people's choice?
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

172. BUT, who does the support shift to once candidates drop out?????

Last edited Wed Apr 17, 2019, 07:06 PM - Edit history (1)

Way too early to start saying anyone is the front runner. If all the people that support the other candidates who eventually withdraw, fall in behind say a Biden, Buttiigieg, Harris, Warren, or others, their numbers could increase dramatically.

Look at current polls. Between Biden and Sanders, they only average 50% of the vote. Where will the other 50% go as the candidates start to drop out?

Oh and btw, out of these 5 latest polls, Bernie only leads in one and is pretty far behind Biden in the other 4 polls.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

198. Another way to say what you said is

in every poll, Sanders is running stronger than all candidates except Biden, who really isn't yet a candidate.

There are so many attempts across DU threads to spin either second place or a lead into catastrophe for Sanders.

I also think that the Biden entry hurts the moderates most - O'Rourke, Kloubuchar, and possibly Harris. The liberal wing will still favor Warren, Sanders, Inslee, Buttigieg.

Sanders is outstanding at fundraising, at social media outreach, at reaching young voters, at appealing to his base, and at building a ground game. Other candidates better learn from his strengths to win primaries, and we all better learn from his strengths to win in the general.

224. You're completely right that second choices are critical here.

Presuming a Bernie/Joe run-off, realistically most of those Warren votes go to Sanders. Same with Gabbard, and I'd suspect a fair number of the Buttigieg numbers given that he's appealing strongly to the youth (although I could be wrong about that one of course). O'Rourke voters I'd think are more likely to flip to Joe, with Harris probably more split.

Obviously its just guesswork at this point and a huge amount can (and will) change between now and then. I'd still give Joe the likely edge if he gets in, but he's vulnerable to gaffes, so I think its definitely a pretty open race.

176. Democrats depend of African American voters and sanders is not popular with this base

Without strong support from African American voters, Democrats will get killed down ballot. The sanders campaign is not counting on support from African American voters https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2019/04/bernie-sanders-thinking-he-will-win-it-all-2020/587326/

He’s counting on winning Iowa and New Hampshire, where he was already surprisingly strong in 2016, and hoping that Cory Booker and Kamala Harris will split the black electorate in South Carolina and give him a path to slip through there, too. And then, Sanders aides believe, he’ll easily win enough delegates to put him into contention at the convention. They say they don’t need him to get more than 30 percent to make that happen

There will be a large number of African American voters who will not support sanders due to the planned stunt of booing Congressman John Lewis at the national convention. I was a delegate to the national convention and I watched the planned stunt by the sanders campaign/delegates of booing Congressman John Lewis. This was a planned stunt that the Clinton campaign found out about and warned her delegates. According to my whip, sanders was asked to call off or try to stop this stunt and declined

My whip and other Clinton supporters may show up in commercials on this incident if sanders is still in the race on Super Tuesday. Good luck with finding African American voters support.

157. Warren is competent and sensible, though, not an extremist.

There were big reasons why Warren wouldn't endorse Sanders before, though he asked repeatedly, and people who imagine they are somehow similar need to look past the labels on policy goals.

Even though some of their avowed goals do overlap largely, they're not at all alike as people. They vary in their principles, standards, ideology, and many beliefs. They differ greatly in both the methods and forms their solutions should take and tremendously in how they relate to their colleagues, and how they performed in the WH would be as extremely different as it is in the senate.

Very notably, Warren left the Republican Party for the Democratic to fight for what she believes from within the seat of power. She chastises her fellow Democrats frequently for not doing what she wants them to but works with them and never betrays. Very strikingly, she would never try to destroy the Democratic Party, both out of good character and principle, but very practically, because working with Democrats is how she gets things done. I-Sanders doesn't play well with others, and his hostile outsider route has always left him isolated and ineffectual.

In those cases, they will vote for the Democratic nominee if he (and I mean "he" because we are talking about misogynist racists) makes them feel comfortable.

I'm speaking about 5% or 10% of Trump voters, which is about 2% or 3% of the total vote. I hate to even say we need them to win, but, in the end, they made the difference. We don't need to cater to them, but they're the assholes who put Trump in office.

The socialist label is a risk, but personally I think he also wins us a lot of white collar votes away from Trump, and pulls in a lot of independents that we didn't get last time. Also a number of those on the hard left who might see a socialist as enough of a reason to vote Dem instead of defecting to the Greens or other.

We should really be looking at this state by state, seeing where we potentially drop votes with each candidate and where we might gain them. It's probably too early for this now, but as we get closer to xmas we should really do it here. This time we HAVE to focus on the electoral college and make sure we're not making any bad decisions if we can avoid it.

Which will almost certainly be Trump.

I despise Sanders personally for the way he behaved towards Hillary in 2016 (even though I preferred his policies to hers, and voted for him in the primary, given that my 1st choice was out by that time).

BUT is he better than Trump? By a long ways. So he would get my vote and my encouragement of others to vote for him.

Assuming I am still alive and mentally competent after the continuing assaults on my sanity and will to live since 2015. (which is when I realized Dems would probably blow the 2016 election. 174. ELECT ALL THE (D)s then let leadership whip them into line

Winning the White House and electing a super majority in both houses of congress has to be the goal. When we accomplish that then leadership enforces order. If anyone dare go against the majority they'll be treated the same was as the repubicans. Stripped of any leadership and facing a majority boycott of their needs.

Leadership must then reverse everything trump and the gop have done - political, social, economic, courts, foreign policy - as if this nightmare was just that - something we can wake up from and not this daily pall of hatred and insanity hanging over the nation like a toxic orange cloud.

will suppress the millennials from voting. Many young voters in 2016 were shocked by the DNC's rules for super delegates. Hey, I know, rules are rules and Hillary was smarter than Bernie. I am happy to see that the DNC has all but eliminated super delegates from the equation for 2020.

55. Many of the news channels were reading out totals that included superdelegates from the start

So even after Bernie won states, they were showing the race as positive for Hillary because of the early declared superdelegates. That had a real effect on his momentum, despite great performances early in the race.

Would she still have won? Yes, probably. But that doesn't make the effect of superdelegates irrelevant. It had an effect and it pissed off a lot of Bernie supporters. And rightly so.

The need to continue to turn out, which would convince superdelegates to flip on their own, rather than trying to beg them to after the fact.

Was it arrogance that led him not to follow the example that was successfully used in 2008?

Or was it more important strategically to paint himself as one man against a “rigged” system—a theme, somewhat interestingly, which was also pushed by Trump?

Their support is also not even close to monolithic. There is actually an exceptional millennial running for President and I believe many of them will shift to him before the first vote is cast. I believe that we will see millennials vote in just over historical trend numbers. The higher age end of the millennials are getting to the point where they become more consistent voters. They are going to love the charisma of a number of our candidates and they are all speaking to issues that matter to younger generations.

On the second ballot, if there is one, delegates will be free to vote any way they want, and based on what we've seen historically that will probably be one of the front running career Democrats. Plus, the superdelegates are in play after the first ballot, and chances are they'll vote en masse for one of the front running career Democrats.

232. Nate Silver- Sanders Can Win, But He Isn't Polling Like A Favorite

Nate thinks that it is possible for sander to win the nomination but this is not likely. sanders is not going to be the nominee of the party. sanders thinks that getting 30% of the primary vote is sufficient which means taking the fight to the contested convention. https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/bernie-sanders-can-win-but-he-isnt-polling-like-a-favorite/

Historically, though, candidates who are polling at only about 20 percent nationally despite the near-universal name recognition that Sanders enjoys don’t have a great track record. From our research on the history of past primary polls, I found 15 candidates from past nomination processes who, like Sanders, (i) polled at an average of between 15 percent and 25 percent4 in national polls in the first six months of the year before the Iowa caucuses5 and (ii) who had high or very high name recognition.6.....

Achieving a delegate majority could be hard for Sanders
You could also argue that the three winning candidates from the list — Barack Obama and John McCain in 2008 and Mitt Romney in 2012 — aren’t good comparisons for Sanders, especially from a “The Party Decides” standpoint where preferences among party insiders and activists are leading indicators of voter preferences. Romney, for instance, had the backing of the GOP party establishment as a potential consensus choice, whereas Sanders largely lacks it from Democrats. Obama was a rising star, rather than someone left over from a previous cycle, and gained a lot of momentum among party elites as the 2008 cycle wore on, even if they also liked Clinton. McCain, who ran against the party establishment in 2000 but was someone the party could live with in 2008, is in some ways the most favorable comparison for Sanders.

In many respects, however, Sanders is more similar to Jesse Jackson in 1984 and 1988, George Wallace in 1972 and 1976 or Ron Paul in 2012, candidates who represented important constituencies within their respective parties but who didn’t have an obvious way to unite the rest of the party behind them or to win a delegate majority.

At times, Sanders’s strategists actually seem to be leaning into the strategy of being a factional candidate. The Sanders campaign may have all kinds of reasons to feel aggrieved by how the party establishment has treated it, especially when it reads articles like the one in The New York Times that suggest the establishment is out to get it again! Nonetheless, the campaign hasn’t sought to mend fences when conflicts have arisen this year. Instead, Sanders aides told The Atlantic’s Edward-Isaac Dovere that they think they can win the nomination with as little as a 30 percent plurality of delegates. That’s a risky strategy since it would necessarily entail a contested convention, where party insiders would play an outsized role. Nor would Sanders, a 77-year-old white man, reflect the various constituencies of the Democratic Party (and the demographics of the delegates themselves) as well as someone like Harris might.

sanders will not be the nominee if sanders only gets 30% of the primary vote. There are too many real democrats who have long memories and who will not forgive or forget. If this gets to a floor fight, the delegates for the other candidates will not support sanders and the super delegates will get to break any deadlocks after the first ballot.

Strictly speaking, the only potential Democratic nominee who might get my vote in the electoral college is Beto, and even there I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

But no other candidate makes me more dismayed for the chances of other Democrats on the ticket here. A lot of candidates down the ballot would need all the help they could get if we screw up and nominate Bernie.

I don't think any of them can garner anywhere near what Bernie can at present. If the race were to narrow to two people, then Bernie could be defeated, similar to what Hillary did. But with three or more in the race, Bernie's following will be hard to overtake, in my opinion.

Honestly, that's why I'm pulling behind Biden, rather than Buttigieg or Harris, who I actually like better. The single most important thing to happen in this primary is that we simply must end Bernie's campaign as early as possible, and that means Biden. We have several who can defeat Trump, but only one can drive a stake into the heart of the Bernie candidacy.

Some candidates who make a poor showing will drop out after the first three contests. A few days later is Super Tuesday, that's 12 more states holding primaries. More candidates will get the message then. We'll have a better idea at that time whether or not Bernie is the people's choice.

I honestly don't understand how people can make such assertions at this point that no candidate can compete with him. We have months and months of competition to observe. What the hell is the hurry. It's a rush to judgment.

Bernie is not in my Top 5 for the primary. However, if he is our nominee, I have zero reservations and will easily vote for him in the general election in November 2020.

That being said, Bernie (like Biden) starts with national name recognition and a support base the other candidates do not have. Once the field winnows significantly after IA, NH and SC (and it certainly will, possibly leaving 5 or fewer candidates), things will get interesting as people start to coalesce around a few candidates instead of ~20 candidates.

So it's not a big risk to say that. He won't get over 50% of pledged delegates to win the 1st round at the convention, so his only chance would be the super delegates putting him over the top in a second round of voting and we all know that will never happen.

89. This is not even primary season yet

and we have many good candidates to choose from. I will not vote for Sanders in the primary.

Strong in my thoughts yet is rape fantasy and a candidate whose female staff felt compelled to organize a union because of his tolerance of sexual harassment in his last campaign. His pushung of Sen. Feinstein and constant invasion of women's spaces by waving his hand in their faces is in my memory. Also his tolerance of abusive treatment of women who didn't support him by "bros" has stuck with me. He tolerated much bad behavior.

Equally strong in my memory is the dismissiveness of the concerns of the African American community until he had to be taught that other peoples existed outside of very white Vermont. Need I mention his dismissal of dumping his state's nuclear waste next to a poor Hispanic community?

His history of sucking up to the NRA and the weapons industry looms large.

I still haven't forgotten the ways in which he has used and abused the Democratic party while cozying up to Republicans since his bid to become mayor if Burlington. He's dusting off that playbook for another round.

Sometimes it has been hard to see how to choose between him and the Republican so I will focus now on the primary where I can work for a candidate of my choosing who reflects my values and who can be trusted to follow through.

Bernie will not get the nomination. This years field is too strong. Bernie is a horrible general election candidate. Almost worse than Hillary (who was the most qualified candidate ever!!) and she had 30 years of vilification by the far right to deal with. The GOP would go to town 24/7 on socialism socialism socialism bad bad bad if Bernie gets the nomination. Kudos to Bernie for energizing the progressive left, but to win the general we need the moderate middle. (See 2018 Blue wave as an example!!)

But if not moot, the answer would have to be yes.

I'd have to vote for him, but I wouldn't "support" him. That's to say, I wouldn't donate, volunteer to canvas or phone bank, or otherwise actively support the candidate, as I have in the past. I simply have huge reservations about the man. I'd vote, because there would be no other choice, but that's about all.

I doubt he will be the "people's" choice, however. We've got a huge field here, and I doubt he (or possibly anyone) can garner the total number of delegates needed for the nomination unless the field reduces dramatically. The millennial voters who backed him as the only anti-Hillary choice available in 2016 now have some exciting other candidates, and their vote will be split. Older voters and minorities are hardly enthused by him.

But there are a lot of swing voters out there that didn't support Hillary when she was. Not the hardcore haters or people who feel totallyin synchronicity with Putin- but the ones who feel pressured by demands for equality and worry that they themselves will be marginalized if the equality revolutionaries become too "powerful" or if they think change is happening too fast).

I think most if not all of the current candidates are not talking about Putin and Russia--until we address the Russia factor a lot of Democrats are not going to be able to make an informed decision about voting for any candidate.

Also do not know whether Trump will be the candidate. Putin could decide to dump him in favor of someone else.

We need to confront the question whether we are already a vassel state or a state under attack but still with a large measure of freedom.

from 2016:

80% of the Sanders voted for the Democratic nominee, 10% voted for Jill Stein or wrote in Sanders name, 10% voted for trump

The most interesting part of the Bloomberg report was the vast majority of those Sanders' supporters who refused to vote for the Democratic nominee in 2016 would do it again, and have no regrets

Among those who did not vote for the Democratic nominee in 2016 were David Sirota, Nina Turner, and Briahna Joy Gray

‘Bernie or Bust’ Voters Create Predicament for Democrats in 2020
By Sahil Kapur

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-04-17/-bernie-or-bust-voters-create-predicament-for-democrats-in-2020

“Sometimes things have to get ugly before they get better,” said Melissa Mallaber, a 46-year-old social worker who attended Sanders’ rally in Pittsburgh on Sunday. “There’s such a thing as necessary evils in life to restore the balance.”

....

“I had this thought that maybe it’s gotta get real bad to get better,” Donna Dunaj, 76, said at Sanders’ rally Saturday in Macomb County, Michigan. “In other words, Trump wins, but we wouldn’t let it happen again.”

Dunaj said she backed Stein in 2016 and doesn’t know how she’d vote in 2020 if Sanders isn’t the nominee.

....

“I don’t like that mentality,” said Ronnie Hasting, a 36-year-old union ironworker who attended Sanders’ Pittsburgh rally. “Removing Trump isn’t the only goal. Electing a corporatist Democrat is counterproductive, hence my vote for Jill Stein in 2016.”

I agree with Jim Messina on this https://politicalwire.com/2019/04/17/messina-says-sanders-cant-beat-trump/

Jim Messina, who managed Barack Obama’s re-election campaign in 2012, told ABC News that Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) cannot beat President Trump in 2020.

Said Messina: “I think if you look at swing voters in this country they are incredibly focused on the economy. I think today you look at it and say that Bernie Sanders is unlikely going to be able to stand up to the constant barrage that is Donald Trump on economic issues.”

2. Polling and whatnot right now is iffy at best. Obama in April 2007 was certainly a contender, but he wasn't the clear favorite. Hillary was, and John Edwards had a real shot too. So Bernie is certainly established as someone who is going to get votes. Right now.
3. I see plenty of folks who can compete with him. I don't see anyone who has this remotely locked up.

So, what's the point of this post? Except to annoy folks who aren't already on Team Bernie?

‘Bernie or Bust’ Voters in 2020

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-04-17/-bernie-or-bust-voters-create-predicament-for-democrats-in-2020

“Sometimes things have to get ugly before they get better,” said Melissa Mallaber, a 46-year-old social worker who attended Sanders’ rally in Pittsburgh on Sunday. “There’s such a thing as necessary evils in life to restore the balance.” Mallaber said she cast a write-in vote for Sanders in 2016 rather than go along with a Democratic establishment choice who wouldn’t take bold action on issues like health care and climate change. “People had to wake up,” she said. “If we had another Clinton in office what would have changed?”

“I had this thought that maybe it’s gotta get real bad to get better,” Donna Dunaj, 76, said at Sanders’ rally Saturday in Macomb County, Michigan. “In other words, Trump wins, but we wouldn’t let it happen again.” Dunaj said she backed Stein in 2016 and doesn’t know how she’d vote in 2020 if Sanders isn’t the nominee
.
Wish Trump would put them both in cages for a few months. But they're feeling safe because they're white citizens and extreme cruelty to children doesn't fit in their righteous picture. And because "and then they came for me" is not in it either, unless the "they" is Democrats.

“Removing Trump isn’t the only goal. Electing a corporatist Democrat is counterproductive, hence my vote for Jill Stein in 2016.”

Hasting plans to back Sanders in the 2020 primary and said he’d consider voting for Senator Elizabeth Warren if she’s the nominee. If it’s Biden, Senator Kamala Harris or former Congressman Beto O’Rourke, “then I’ll vote Jill Stein again,” he said.

"The folks who are hardcore Bernie-only people — a good amount of that stems from the way they feel Bernie Sanders was mistreated in the 2016 primary by the Democratic establishment," Democracy for America’s Sroka said. "If there’s a fair and open process this time, that can repair a lot of those relationships. I think we’re seeing that so far."

No, unfortunately not. That's the pumped-up justification for the inexcusable, including for many who indulged pathological levels of HillHate. This kind of thinking is intrinsic to most, not "repairable." They're Eric Hoffer's "true believers" who've found their leader, and they will do it again, righteously, considering necessary any costs they will admit to. Some choose to have no idea that their third-party votes helped elect Trump, others think it was necessary.

It would be a bitter, bitter day when I had to vote for someone who encouraged these people to be this way. Mercifully, the turnout of sensible, caring people after 2016 should swamp their toxic votes in both the primaries and the general.

Hope Larkin-Begley ... voted for Stein in 2016 and has no regrets about the outcome, saying the election of Trump “ripped the veneer off the ruling class” and steered the Democratic Party in the more left-wing direction of Sanders. “If Hillary had won we’d be going down the same incrementalism road,” she said. “It’s better to have a buffoon rather than a civilized smooth-talking charlatan.”

And for a much-needed return to normality and reminder that civic duty and decency are normal:

Joe Trippi, a Democratic strategist and veteran of presidential campaigns, said it’s "way too early to know" how the Bernie-or-bust phenomenon will shape 2020. "Hillary Clinton is not in the race,” he said. “He’s got 16 or 17 other people running for the nomination right now, many of them arguably as progressive as he is." He said candidates like Warren, O’Rourke and Buttigieg can appeal to Sanders voters in different ways. And he argued that Trump’s presidency will motivate many to back the Democrat as opposed to staying home or voting for a third-party candidate.

"I think Trump does a pretty good job every day of putting up a big red warning sign of — hey, don’t do that," Trippi said.

Yes! As the midterms demonstrated so reassuringly.

Political adviser Jim Messina, who managed former President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign in 2012, answered a question Wednesday that has been on the minds of Democrats looking ahead at the 2020 presidential race.

"Can Bernie Sanders beat Donald Trump?" ABC News Chief White House Correspondent Jonathan Karl asked Messina on the Powerhouse Politics podcast on Wednesday.

"No," Messina responded.,,,,

"I think if you look at swing voters in this country they are incredibly focused on the economy," Messina replied. "I think today you look at it and say that Bernie Sanders is unlikely going to be able to stand up to the constant barrage that is Donald Trump on economic issues."

184. He's the favorite among those for whom he is the favorite.

That's all. It's a long road to the primaries and the convention.

We'll all vote for the nominee. Whoever it turns out to be. But, don't ask people to commit before there has been even one primary. That's just silly. Come back with your question on March 4, 2020. It will make more sense then.

I will absolutely support any current person running for the nomination.

189. trump Shows That He Is Totally Terrified Of Joe Biden

trump wants to run against sanders and is afraid of Joe Biden

The Republican Party would love to run against Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) because they could make the election all about Sanders and socialism instead of Trump. They want to run against Buttigieg because they think they can use his sexual orientation and youth against him.

The person that Trump can’t figure out is Joe Biden. Trump has tried the “Sleepy Joe” attack but has flopped. Trump has now moved on to trying to attack Biden’s populism by coining him “1% Joe.” This also won’t work, especially coming from Donald Trump. Trump fears Biden’s populism and former vice president’s appeal in Rust Belt states.

Biden scares Trump, and that fear is never more obvious than when Trump starts talking about his potential opponents in 2020.

This op appears to be a trap. Whatever, I'll be voting blue no matter who and especially against cheetolini ... but I won't be very happy if its Sanders.

I'm editing my response to ask the question why anyone would think this post is a good idea?

I don't think he's qualified or up to the task, and I feel he'd run a similarly chaotic administration... but anything's better than trump.

201. Of course. Absolutely. Goes without saying.

I’ll throw up in my mouth a little as I do it, but I’ll crawl over broken glass to get to the polls and put my mark next to his name. Every other member of this board will do the same when push comes to shove.

That said, I doubt I’ll have to do it.

I don't want Bernie, I want someone younger. Mayor Pete, Kamala Harris, Beto, Amy, this is THEIR future, ours in done
I'm 68 and I want someone younger than me. Having said that, I think the democrats need to keep this in mind:
DEMOCRATS FALL IN LOVE, REPUBLICANS FALL IN LINE this is what we need to remember and adhere to. Whomever is
the nominee I will vote for even if its not someone I really want. I don't care if its a man or a woman, black, white, or brown, gay or straight. As long as they can defeat pumpkin head.

216. The problem won't be supporters of the other Democratic candidates, it will be most likely some of

the supporters of Sanders, and the Bernie or Bust from 2016 redux, and every indication has been given from the Sanders campaign that they have no problem with that, because they appointed three people to high positions in his campaign who not only voted for Jill Stein in 2016, but encouraged others to do likewise, up to the night before the election.

David Sirota, Nina Turner, and Briahna Joy Gray

but yeah OP, keep pushing the divisionary bullshit, when maybe the one's more likely not to vote for the Democratic nominee if it isn't THEIR candidate, is the candidate YOU are focusing on:

‘Bernie or Bust’ Voters Create Predicament for Democrats in 2020

By Sahil Kapur
April 17, 2019, 10:00 AM GMT+2

For a sliver of Sanders’ base, it’s Bernie or bust. They may detest President Donald Trump, but they didn’t vote for Hillary Clinton and they’re not sure they’ll back the Democratic nominee in 2020 if Sanders isn’t on the ballot. They’re willing do whatever it takes to push the party to adopt his ideas.

“Sometimes things have to get ugly before they get better,” said Melissa Mallaber, a 46-year-old social worker who attended Sanders’ rally in Pittsburgh on Sunday. “There’s such a thing as necessary evils in life to restore the balance.”

Mallaber said she cast a write-in vote for Sanders in 2016 rather than go along with a Democratic establishment choice who wouldn’t take bold action on issues like health care and climate change. “People had to wake up,” she said. “If we had another Clinton in office what would have changed?”

-----------
Dunaj, 76, said at Sanders’ rally Saturday in Macomb County, Michigan. “In other words, Trump wins, but we wouldn’t let it happen again.”

Dunaj said she backed Stein in 2016 and doesn’t know how she’d vote in 2020 if Sanders isn’t the nominee.

The die-hard Sanders fans often describe politics as a binary struggle between a wealthy ruling class and ordinary workers who are being exploited, and they see centrist Democrats as part of the problem. And they’re wholly unpersuaded by the argument that they should vote for a moderate Democrat over a Republican as the lesser of two evils.
-----------
Hope Larkin-Begley, a computer programmer in Pennsylvania, came to the rally wearing a Sanders 2020 button, hat, sign and a peace-sign shirt with his name on it. She voted for Stein in 2016 and has no regrets about the outcome, saying the election of Trump “ripped the veneer off the ruling class” and steered the Democratic Party in the more left-wing direction of Sanders.

“If Hillary had won we’d be going down the same incrementalism road,” she said. “It’s better to have a buffoon rather than a civilized smooth-talking charlatan.”

221. I truly hope the Senator's supporters on DU

Knows how much rests on them in this election. Not only should they work to get Senator Sanders nominated, as all of us do with the candidates we support, they also need to, they HAVE to work on their fellow supporters to ensure they vote for the Democratic nominee should Senator Sanders not be nominated. We don't have the luxury of faffing about and thinking that re-electing Trump will bring on a mythical revolution. A Trump victory in 2020 will kill people, and that blood will be evenly distributed between the Trump deplorables and the third-party voters, regardless of what state they live in. Any vote that *isn't* for the Democratic nominee gives Trump an increased mandate, should he, God forbid, be re-elected.

231. 1 - Super doubt he will be the nominee.

If he is because Joe doesn't run - I will vote for him in the general. If he's released the 10 years of tax returns like he said, I'd probably even work for him through FL Democrats where I routinely volunteer. If he doesn't, if other things come out where he's involved with Russia or not supporting his women volunteers, I'd still vote for him and I fear he'd 100% ensure drumfps' re-election.
