No, Bernie Sanders did not say that Trump-Kim meeting is "a very good thing"

I read in a political message board that Bernie Sanders had called the meeting between Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un “a very good thing.”

In fact, Bernie Sanders said that if Donald Trump manages to get Kim Jong-Un to destroy his nuclear weapons, that is a very good thing.

The word “if” is key.

It’s not the same for me to state that “My conversation with my father will be a very good thing if he lets borrow his car”, and “ my conversation with my father will be a very good thing”.

I’m seeing too many edited video clips and edited quotes from politicians these days.

1. It's definitely not praise of Trump. It's more wishful thinking.

“See, now, after all of the nasty things I said about Trump, let me say a good thing here, all right?”

That sentence clearly states his intent, no matter how much you try to split hairs.

You don’t like the context?

he was being deliberately dishonest. Hiding behind the conditional is disingenuous.

is not “splitting hairs”. It is actually calling out a blatant lie. I am amazed You equated the two omissions.
