because not only are they grotesque, who cares. She is a legitimate citizen who will be voting. If thats what she wanted to ask, she had every right. And Bernie handled as best he could. I think it's a great idea to make sure all of their volunteers and campaign workers are trained on the issue and to have 3rd party outlets to report to if it happens. That's actually a great thing! It's an unfortunate issue with many campaigns and should be controlled more closely. I won't name names but it has happened in recent times to other camps.

Edit: I forgot to mention the first reason why I decided to write a response to this. We have to be careful about who we are interacting with because I've seen many reports now that there are active bots out there in the social media sphere working to divide democrats. We seen a big reference to this today when Jacob Wohl got kicked off the tweeter. He was banned for life for creating fake accounts for that exact reason. Just keep that in mind.

What kind of people do this? It is shameful and drags Bernie down into the gutter.

All Bernie supporters I know are polite and decent people who would never do such a thing but I can't deny that there is a subset that is involved in untoward activities like these.

Bernie should come out and apologize to that poor woman. A few more incidents like these and his candidacy would be sunk by people who want him elected.

Bernie can and must show leadership by setting clear examples for how his campaign will conduct itself. What are the core values of his campaign, now that he's declared that he's running for president?
