Supreme Court: self-preservation at democracy's expense, says Constitution law expert Kermit Roosevelt - Velshi - MSNBC

The Supreme Court’s decision to keep Donald Trump on the ballot, coupled with its consideration of his immunity claim, has left many experts puzzled. Some view these moves as shielding Trump from accountability. Constitutional Law expert Kermit Roosevelt III says that the Court's decisions are likely rooted in self-preservation in the face of record low approval ratings.

Roosevelt argues that the Court wants to appear impartial by entertaining Trump's immunity appeal, potentially with the intention of ultimately rejecting it. “The court should not be trying to defend itself.,” says Roosevelt. ‘The court should defend America. The court should defend the Constitution. The court should defend democracy.' - Aired on 03/17/2024.

1. The impartially argument would have been more convincing if they rejected the immunity garbage outright.

The way they handled this just makes 6 of them look like the partisan shills many of us believe them to be even more.

3. And this "immunity" would apply to any future sitting president - however, TFG is determined to prevent future elections.

And if he claims unchecked power, SCOTUS and the courts would be the first to go.

Imagine the six. Gosh, how do we give trump immunity without giving Biden immunity. Hey slappy, what does ginni want us to do? Yo Sammy ya got any more 17th century witch doctors to guide us? Its spring break so Brett is away doing stuff he’ll later deny. And Neil is railing against windmills. Amy is praying for a solution. In trumps favor. Oh the plight of treasonous bastards.

I pray not. And I’m not religious. So sad that now the Supremes have actually got to consider their next move in their suicide pact. As young folks might say, it sucks to be the six.

And in the majority, but then we know the Republicans cheat - and the TFG party has taken this to a whole new level, threats, attacks and colluding with foreign dictatorships.

a new Constitutional Convention for years. I'm sure that at least 3 or 4 justices would be very happy to have a Constitution more in line with their way of thinking.

Why would a dictator need a court to decide anything, or a Congress or a Justice Department, for that matter?

We should start a online petition for Biden to order the Military with M16s to attack the Supreme Court and
do in the 6 republicans for good and appoint 6 new Justices. Now watch those 6 scream and holler about
things being illegal. Of course we know Biden would never kill anyone, unlike IQ4.5 who would to
anyone who got in his way. Probably get in trouble starting a petition like that.

These TFG trials, which have gone on so long, are like a rollercoaster, and should have been resolved long ago - and are taking their toll on all of us.
