Actually, no. Malignant narcissists have a childishly simpleminded view that they can't possibly ever do anything wrong, so why would there ever be negative consequences for anything they do? All the bad things are done by other people, everything wtong in the world is done by their enemies.

So while the potential judgment was being mentioned to him, he never paid any attention to it because innoent people like him will never be convicted of doing anything wrong. His enemies will have to pay.

As for selling off assets, it's just not mortgaged real estate, it's securities. It's capital stashed offshore and when underlings are faced with prison, you can bet they'll sign sweet music about that.
