Dozens of protesters have breached and barricaded themselves inside one of Columbia's main buildings, Hamilton Hall.

I hear one of the occupiers found the remains of a leftover ham sandwich somebody from the SDS left in the corner.

4. I understand the bombast...

...coming from "Morning Joe" and some members of Congress, but it's fairly easy for malign actors to become the focus of legitimate protests. I know it, because I have experience with it, and those folks know it too. Both sides are spending a lot of time on propaganda and outrage while the focus goes away from resolving the issues of freeing hostages and humane treatment of Gazans.

5. Take-overs by students of the Nixon era received heros welcomes and ticker-tape parades

Just as it was in my generation's take-over of campuses because youth has a functioning moral compass, can we expect the students to leave to a hero's welcome and rewards of immunity from their youthful crimes; not to mention the complete success their actions will bring.

Or am I misremembering and hallucinating the past?
