1. Why did she do this?

If she didn't know that she didn't have the votes, what is she doing?

She HAD to know that she didn't have the votes. All she has to do is count. That she was so unaware means that 1. she was being lied to when others were whipping for her, or 2. she overestimates her persuasive power, thinking perhaps that her mere presence is enough to bend people to her will. Or both. In any event, her power in the House just took a nosedive.

2. She seeks vengeance against Speaker Johnson since he agreed to send aid to Ukraine - which TFG is opposed to

She was full on TFG from the very beginning, shot off her mouth to the press that he won in 2020 "by a landslide," echoes his words, even though she hadn't even been sworn in yet. I'm listening to Liz Cheney's book and she names names, MTG still supports TFG and Kevin McCarthy changed his allegiance depending who he was speaking with.
