Republicans are now using it narrowly. Hell, none of us can win to get to do the bad things we want to do. But he can, so here we are. And maybe, just maybe, one of the groveling syncophants will get the VP nod, a massive stroke away from the position they would never, ever get otherwise.

No matter what it takes - despite the fact that loyalty to TFG is what got Michael Cohen in legal trouble in the first place.
