AIPAC vs. Jamaal Bowman: Rep. Ayanna Pressley on Pro-Israel Lobby Challenge to "The Squad"

Tuesday is the culmination of the most expensive primary race in U.S. history in New York’s 16th Congressional District. Democratic Congressmember Jamaal Bowman, a former Bronx middle school principal and one of the first to call for a ceasefire in Gaza in October, is being challenged by a former corporate executive, George Latimer, who was encouraged to run by the Democratic Majority for Israel PAC. Outside spending in the race has topped $23 million, much of it from pro-Israel groups like AIPAC. Bowman, a recent guest on Democracy Now!, is a member of the progressive “Squad” in Congress, a coalition of congressional representatives that includes New York’s Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who campaigned for Bowman at a reelection rally in New York City Saturday, and Massachusetts’s Ayanna Pressley. Bowman “needs to be decisively returned” to Congress, says Pressley, who joins Democracy Now! to discuss the final push to get out the vote for Bowman and characterizes him as the “pro-peace, pro-humanity, pro-justice candidate.”

From his false statements about the Oct 7 attacks, to his votes against the infrastructure, raising the debt limit, etc., that has nothing to do with AIPAC, but blame it on that “Jewish money”, that’s always a good target for someone’s personal failures, as though people can’t see with their own eyes. Same excuse Nina Turner gave for her loss against Brown, it was that “evil money”

Is your comparing Latimer to Thomas. That suggestion implies Latimer is pocketing boatloads of cash like Thomas did. Spin it as you wish, that is what you and apparently DN is saying.

'""Money" is incapable of being evil, or religious, it's just free speech"

Free speech being a direct reference to how the Supreme Court decided Citizens United, and Clarence Thomas was one of those justices that made the decision to elevate money above actual speech.

I thought you were against Citizens United and AIPAC funds election denying Republicans, did you know that?

The way I see it, funding from the Oligarchic financial backers of people that tried and are trying to overthrow the United States government and turn us into a dictatorship under the cult of *rump is a major negative...but that's just my perception.

Then you added a picture of traitor Thomas with his cronies, that implies Latimer is just like Thomas.

You never sourced a link to the quote and picture, please do so. I would be curious to read exactly what all was implied. Was it just an article about Thomas himself and DN implied that Latimer is just like Thomas?

and Thomas is the most corrupted Justice insofar as "presents" over 4 million dollars worth from oligarchs.

That pic is easily identifiable, it's Thomas and Harlan Crowe; an oligarch if you didn't know that.

Neither my post which you responded to nor the post that I was responding to even mentioned Bowman's primary opponent.

You would've known that if you just scrolled up and read that post.

So if you're not willing to look, don't blame me on how you see things.

“Evil Money” and “Jewish money” in the same sentence.

I know exactly what Thomas is, yet your quote and image is telling when your Op is a lot about Latimer.

That pic is easily identifiable, it's Thomas and Harlan Crowe; an oligarch if you didn't know that.

Conflating peoples posts as the OP even less so.

If you have something to say about the OP say it, if you have something to say about an individual sub-thread conversation, say that as well but don't conflate the two.

the hell out of politics. There IS a new young and more progressive group of Democrats coming up in our party and they are going to challenge the old money Democrats, like it or not. I'm not implying "Jewish" money here so don't go there, there are plenty of corporate Democrats to go around and there is and has been a movement within the party to reform, rightfully so, the insane amounts of cash BOTH parties spend on elections. It's personally disgusting to me.

The racist mudslinging AND gross amounts of money in this primary are embarrassing to me as a Democrat. It is a sign of whats to come after Nov. in our party. I'm afraid that if it wasn't for the fear of a fascist takeover right now this divide in the party would be much more prominent right now. Once we win in Nov., and I believe we will win handily, it's going to take some powerful compromising and unifying to hold our party together. We are not immune to the kind of division that destroyed the other side in the last 8 years (division, not radical fascist ideals). I could even see a scenario where a split in our party fills a massive vacuum that's being created by TSF and his little coup brigade.

Once again I'm not talking about Gaza here and I'm not implying "Jewish" money in any way shape or form. I am saying is all the fucking money poured into our insane gross capitalistic style of electioneering has to go or it will devour us all from the inside.

Respect
