According to Mary Trump's book, his eldest sister approached their father full of apologies when she told him the man she planned to marry was Catholic and expected her to join the Church.

And he's obviously not familiar with being in church after watching him wandering around before George H.W. Bush's funeral while the other former presidents and First Ladies sat quietly. And then there was his order to gas the gathered protesters and church staff to make way for his photo-op holding a Bible upside down in front of the church across from the White House.
