Gaza cease-fire: How long will it last? - DW News

The Israeli military sounded sirens in two villages near the Gaza Strip, warning of possible rocket attacks from the Hamas-ruled enclave just minutes after a truce came into force. There was no immediate confirmation of any rocket attacks or damage. Violations of the ceasefire have been common in previous Gaza wars. The Qatari-mediated truce began at 7 a.m. local time (0500 GMT) with hostages expected to be released later in the day. Israel's military has vowed to resume operations in Gaza once the four-day pause in fighting against Hamas ends. - Aired on 11/24/2023.

You're right, and this is as bad as it's been. Can these horrific attacks be stopped now that they've started? Rhiannon12866 Nov 2023 #2
It's impressive that the parties agreed to a "pause" PJMcK Nov 2023 #3

4 days of peace, 4,000 years of conflict.

Humankind doesn’t have a good track record of sharing the peace within that small, ancient area of land.

The mutual hatred and distrust are so deep that I doubt there is a solution to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. During my 6 decades, they have never found peace despite nearly continuous efforts by many international efforts.

A two-state solution appears to be unattainable. What other fair alternatives are there?

The future for these peoples looks bleak.
