"Vaccines: Calling the Shots" (PBS Nova documentary from 2014)

PBS has the full transcript. Summary from the PBS site:

Diseases that were largely eradicated in the United States a generation ago—whooping cough, measles, mumps—are returning, in part because nervous parents are skipping their children's shots. NOVA's "Vaccines—Calling the Shots" takes viewers around the world to track epidemics, explore the science behind vaccinations, hear from parents wrestling with vaccine-related questions, and shed light on the risks of opting out.

This documentary originally was shown on September 11, 2014. Back then the idea of a kook like Robert Kennedy Jr. having actual political power was quite laughable. In recent memory at the time: the withdrawal of Dr. Andrew Wakefield's fraudulent study linking vaccines and autism, along with Rolling Stone and Salon also retracting RFK Jr.'s similar article. Yet back then, anti-vaccine viewpoints didn't have that much of a taboo in places like San Francisco as the documentary showed.

No wonder the sundowning goof of a president and his soldatos in Congress want to defund NPR! And too many Americans have no clue how to evaluate risk.

And proudly claim that, "I've done my own research," by which they mean they've surfed the net to find personal blogs that support their confirmation bias.

We have a scary number of dumbasses in this country.
