2. I agree, but what jumped out at me was the inability of the discussion panel in not being able to articulate

what is the center in American Politics?

It was basically all about being "primaried" and style with little to no discussion of moral or policy centering despite overwhelming majorities of the American People approving or wanting policy reform on a multitude of critical issues.

I don't think they know or perhaps just can't admit what the center is for job security sake.
