Donald Trump has suffered a one-two legal punch. First, a judge has blocked the White House's efforts to expedite their deportation efforts. Then, an appeals court has found most of Trump's tariffs are "illegal." Former Acting U.S. Solicitor General Neal Katyal, one of the attorney's for the plaintiff in the tariffs case, breaks down the bombshell ruling. - Aired on 08/30/2025.

1. What concerns me is

SCOTUS will rule on a tangential point, such as "Well, an "emergency" is subjective and a President can decide what an emergency is at the time of making tariffs, of sending troops into cities, etc.

2. Good point, but mayors and governors have made a point that crime in TFG-targeted cities is down

And TFG's tariffs have only made affording goods tougher for the American people.

3. Points taken. My original contention remains that the present/current

SCOTUS is interpreting on the level of Lewis Carroll, where there are no strict rules, guidelines, or even logic. It's unraveling legal precedents for decades, perhaps centuries. (I'm just waiting for them to invalidate themselves by overturning Marbury v. Madison and allow POTUS to be the sole interpreter of The Constitution.)

4. You're completely right, TFG's opportunities to appoint justices certainly has paid off for him

And he already could depend on Thomas and Alito.

5. Celebrating this ruling is like thinking you've got the football game won

because you're leading a little after the 3rd quarter

SCOTUS is corrupt, messed up or both. They've clearly lost their way.

Going back to Citizen's United, they're a key reason we're in the place we find ourselves today.

Three branches of government can only work when at least one of them functions properly.

We don't have that now.

Can you imagine the Founding Fathers looking at the mess we are in today?

What's happening now in this country is not only frightening, but an anomaly in the last 249 years!!! I have often wondered what history will make of this sad turn of events - assuming that our history is allowed to be accurate...

8. A lot of dictatorships have lasted 30+ years. Some authoritarian regimes much longer.

That is the scary part.
Trump won't last nearly that long but he isn't the one with the real levers on the power. The people who put him in place have the control.

I doubt their efforts will last that long because there are more guns than people in the country and the people will have memories of their freedoms.Sooner than later they will wake up. No amount of media propaganda can overcome that.

It is getting harder and harder to see how this ends without some violence.

He appealed to the Trump Imperial Court. The Appeals court stayed their ruling fully well knowing this would happen.
