Nobel Peace Prize Recipient on Her Fight for the Future of Venezuela - Amanpour and Company PBS

Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado was recently awarded the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize for her "tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela." In 2024, Machado supported the alternative presidential campaign of Edmundo González when Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro blocked Machado from running for president. The pro-Maduro election board called the race for the incumbent, despite extensive evidence showing González to be the race's true winner. The Trump administration has labelled Maduro a "narco-terrorist."

On Tuesday, the White House launched a lethal strike on an alleged "drug boat" — the fifth such strike since September. Machado dedicates her Nobel Peace Prize "to the suffering people of Venezuela...and to Trump for his decisive support of our cause." The opposition leader, who lives in hiding inside Venezuela, joins Christiane. - Originally aired on October 15, 2025.

This was a shocking interview for me. Knowing Trump as I do, I find her to be MAGA all the way. walkingman Oct 2025 #1
I had the very same reaction, not what I expected at all. I had been glad that she won - and then she praised TFG?! Rhiannon12866 Oct 2025 #2

If Venezuela is as corrupt as she says, I wonder what the politics really are....truthfully, I am not interested enough to dig into it. I have to assume if Trump is for it, I against it. I guess I have TDS.
