Earlier this year, newly minted young workers from the Department of Government Efficiency slashed USAID spending and hobbled the US Institute of Peace. Meanwhile, at the Peace Corps, staffers spent weeks preparing for their own mystery guest from Doge ensuring that whoever arrived would have computers, a quiet conference room and weekend access, according to public records obtained under FOIA. Special thanks/apologies to Phil Collins, Loverboy, Slayer and Megadeth for this episodes rich tapestry of musical touchpoints.

(3,347 posts)this entire musk event is still baffling. was the entire purpose to "move fast and break things?" 'cause in that case they were a spectacular success.
then, after they have data that would make wm the conqueror's doomsday book look small, musk drops the "trump is in the epstein files" and traipse off to break european things.

(7,229 posts)the entire point of DOGE was to collect as much personal information on the people of the United States as is humanly possible. We know trump is having an enormous database full of personal information (including physical characteristics of individuals) and will use this to push people off voter rolls. They also want every piece of voter roll information from every single state. I was always taught our voter information was private and secured. What a fracking joke! The only kudo I will put out there is, even tho I live in a freaking Red state, I have a Democratic governor and she (so far, as far as I know) has refused giving him the info... as have the blue states.
Beyond what they want to do with tearing down democracy completely in this country with all their accumulated information (including where all our money is), they want to be able to track each and every individual in america. Citizen, naturalized, or otherwise, makes no difference. They WANT to be able to click on a button and find you. That's why these cell phones are going to end up being the end of all personal privacy. They can trace you wherever you go, they can turn GPS on if you have it turned off. If it weren't for my husband's medical doctors, etc., calling my phone I'd ditch mine right now. I'm sick and tired of it, anyway. Convenience is another name for disaster, AFAIC. We've given up way to much and got nothing but heartache and trouble for allowing it. "Free" ain't "Free."
