Expiration of ACA subsidies will have 'ripple effects' in health care and economy - Velshi - MS NOW

Since Congress allowed the Affordable Care Act subsidies to lapse at the end of 2025, millions of Americans are starting off the new year with a significantly higher health insurance bill. Some are opting to just go without insurance at all.

KFF’s Executive Vice President of Health Policy Larry Levitt tells Ali Velshi that the “combined loss” of the subsidies and Medicaid cuts will have “ripple effects throughout the system.” Levitt adds, “If you increase the number of non-paying patients, people who are uninsured, it's just going to make the numbers that much harder to work for you.” - Aired on 01/04/2026.
