Dramatic new video shows GOP lawmakers facing down MAGA attackers on Jan 6. The footage was released in an evidence dump as part of an ongoing coup case against the rioter who shot the video. During the 2016 campaign, I finally quit watching the news since they showed nothing but that offensive blowhard to the exclusion of those I thought of as legitimate candidates. I couldn't wait for the election to be over so we'd never have to see or hear from him again. Now, how long has it been?? Shows what I know...

of building a better future. It's been exhausting. The only thing that can keep us going is that we break this traumatic time for our kids and grandkids' futures, to leave them with a chance at a better future, and lessons learned.

Zero sum, fear politics have taken over our opposition for decades. They've taken marching orders from their rich owner/donor class who are stupidly at war with democracy, while our side is funded by the good business people in the world and our union working class who know that business and society are so much better off in democracies. Rachel showed how Brazil solved their sore loser problem, but our similar problems have always been at much bigger scale and take longer.

More than in 2016, we'll need to take more frequent breaks as this fight peaks this year and stay encouraging with each other.

And she's pretty freaked out that Boebert is now running in her district. She's trying to think of some way to escape the RW chaos, including trying for dual citizenship since her husband's grandfather emigrated from Ireland. And she's not so much scared for herself, but for her two young daughters. She's been dealing with the elder one who has been traumatized by the school shooting drills. If it's not one thing, it's another...

Perhaps she could find safer place for her daughters in that state? It's winter, the middle of the school year, but maybe by summer. I wish her luck. There's a lot of delusional baseless fear in red areas. My SIL has a big house just outside of Denver, and tells me that affordable housing is near nonexistent; maybe you two might come up with some ideas. Just south of her is New Mexico, which I've been to many times; it offers a much cheaper cost of living, gentler seasons, and saner people. Easier to move to than Ireland, right?

She grew up in Denver, but she's been open to live in other places. When she graduated from college, she spent time with us in New York, looking for a job in Albany. She did get a TV reporter job in Great Falls, Montana, which took guts to move to an unfamiliar place all by herself. She also worked in San Diego (great weather!) and Colorado Springs, but she's always returned to the Denver area. She has two older brothers in Englewood, so she has family nearby. I'd love it if she moved out here, but we have Stefanik who's sure not any better.

My wife and I took her parents to visit and tour the US Capitol. Had lunch with our congressman. A very nice visit indeed. My FIL stormed Omaha Beach on D-Day. We had a great visit. Loved spending that time with my Hero who left us more then 20 years ago. Boy, tourists sure have changed since then.

Stefanik is insane or being blackmailed. She is shallow, irresponsible and integrityless. In other words a “leader” of the Republican Party.

This is the House Chamber, the insurrectionists never took control of the House Chamber. They did get into the senate chamber but the House held. It had to hold as there were members of congress still in it. If all of the members had evacuated, maybe Ashley Babbitt would still be alive today.

I don't think there are plans to redraw it again. This was in 2022 and it took so long that we had to vote twice - once for governor/lieutenant governor only - and a second time for congress and everything else.
