Agreed, what's happened just this year, especially this week, is truly as bad as it gets Rhiannon12866 Oct 2023 #3

Republicans are not moveable on the gun issue. Their own children could be gunned down and they would still cry "2nd Amendment."

But if now's "not the right time," same as Sandy Hook, Uvalde - and the rest of the record number of mass shootings just this year, it'll never be - for the Republicans.

During previous shootings.

The 'now is not the right time' line precedes peoples' memories fading so that nothing happens to prevent the next one.

And I agree - now is not the right time.
A few other things have to happen first, like getting the gun lobby neutered permanently.

Considering that this mass shooting took so many lives, paralyzed a state and was breaking news all over the country, nothing can move the Republicans. Even Steve Scalise who was critically wounded in a shooting himself has spoken out in opposition to gun control. So nothing will be done and and the conversation will fade away until we confront the next one.

hence unbridled sales of guns and weapons are necessary.

Last time I looked, there wasn't chaos in the street, lootings, indiscriminate violence en masse.
