The accurate word is "incite" them - like he did on January 6th... Rhiannon12866 Feb 2024 #6

Trump and his lawyers don't necessarily believe all - or any, for that matter - of what they claim or that they include in legal filings. The primary intent is to delay and everything else is secondary, including the truth or lack thereof.

This applies to Trump outside the courtroom, as well. He says what he thinks his supporters want to hear and what will garner the most attention, regardless of whether or not he actually believes it. One of the biggest mistakes people make about Trump is that they take what he says at face value.

Who in their right mind would vote for that??

And this always makes me think of Jimmy Carter. When he became president, he promised to always tell the truth. So the reaction from the press was to fact check everything he said. *sigh*

Jimmy Carter was probably the most honest president we've had, at least in modern times. Sometimes, he was so honest that it cost him politically. Kind of a sad statement about society.

Growing up, I never paid attention to politics, despite the fact that when I was really little my Dad took me into the voting booth with him and had me push the levers - and of course he told me which ones, LOL. Who knows who I voted for back then...

But Jimmy Carter was the first candidate I paid attention to. Maybe I was responding to his honesty, but I really liked him. My brother picked on me, probably because nobody had really heard of him, nor did they expect him to win. I have his autobiography, "A Full Life: Reflections at 90", and recommend it highly. He really has led a fascinating life.
