was true in 1992 -- but we were in a recession then. The Dow is closing in on 39000, the S&P 500 is over 5000 and a Big Mac costs seven bucks. Which one do you think most Americans give a fsck about?

For me and everyone else I know it’s the cost of groceries. I was making a click list yesterday to pick up my groceries from Kroger and I stopped in the middle of my order to go vent to Mr Poo. I cannot believe how groceries have gone up and keep going up in price for no discernible reason. During the pandemic I could kind of understand it but now?? That’s what people look at in regard to the economy- not the stupid stock market. We are fortunate enough that we’ve never had to really worry about grocery prices but Holy Cow! It’s sticker shock. This fact smacks people in the face every time they shop for groceries so it’s always right in front of their face and it doesn’t appear that it will ease up anytime soon. The White House needs to hone in on that and at least very publicly let folks know they’re aware of the way they are hurting and are working on ways to ease it. Someone here on DU suggested a scamflation czar to call out the gouging. I think that is a marvelous idea. Make it flashy and loud enough to get the attention of a generation that’s been reared on Jerry Springer and kardashian type TV. I can tell you they are being bombarded with the idea it’s Biden and the Dems that are at fault—-that needs to be refuted ASAP. Hit the Xitter, Instagram, Reddit etc and flood it 24/7.
