Related: About this forumLet's talk about Trump's New Year explaining why he didn't get a peace prize.... - Belle of the Ranch
Well, howdy there Internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about Trump's new year, explaining why he didn't get a peace prize.
Trump looks to be getting ready to start the new year off with a bang. Unfortunately, there might be a few of them. We're going to run through the potential hotspots that Trump has inserted the US into and those we might end up dragged into.
First, let's talk about those that have already gotten hot. Trump has now acknowledged that the US has struck Venezuelan soil, though he hasn't really said whether it was the military or a covert action by an intelligence agency and something he shouldn't have talked about. Either way, the situation in Venezuela is escalating, and it's hard to see an off-ramp. It's almost amazing how he's been able to frame what seems to be a longtime establishment regime change goal as somehow anti-establishment and have his base buy it.
Then we have Nigeria, where Trump cut aid funding that was helping to keep the various militant groups at bay and now the US has conducted strikes. When shock, all of the counterinsurgency experts were right. I'll have a link down below. There's also serious questions about whether or not the targeting was on point now. Much like Venezuela, this is another resource-rich country that the US has wanted a footprint in for quite some time.
In the run-up to the new year, Trump threatened Iran with another strike, saying, "Now I hear that Iran is trying to build up again. And if they are, we're going to have to knock them down. We'll knock them down.
It's weird to think that they've reconstituted their programs so quickly after Trump declared them obliterated, even though intelligence assessments said the strike only bought a few months. That seems like it was only a few months ago, because it was. Is it safe to say the operation they branded a spectacular military success was actually ineffective at this point? Iran also recently seized a tanker, it says, was smuggling fuel. Due to Trump's moves off the coast of Venezuela, the US really can't easily frame a protest.
Elsewhere in the Middle East, Trump threatened to attack Gaza unless it disarms. Recent assessments suggest the opposite is happening as the peace process hangs by a thread.
After, Trump telegraphed his unwillingness to even supply arms in opposition to near peers, much less actually stand up to them concerning Russia and Ukraine.
China started its largest military exercise on record around Taiwan. The live fire exercise is simulating blockading the island.
The Thailand Cambodia conflict is still tense. Fighting broke out after Trump declared peace. The Chinese stepped in and got a ceasefire going again, but Tuesday, there were already violations.
Beyond that, the UAE and Saudi Arabia are experiencing significant tensions over the ongoing conflict in Yemen.
That doesn't even touch on the several lesser known situations that could spiral or the ongoing war in Ukraine. It's going to be a tense year.
Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good new year.

that Trump has USED the military not for U.S. protection, but to either DISTRACT from the Epstein morass or BECAUSE he needs to show he's a 'tough guy'.
