Let's talk about MTG still being America First, but Trump's lost the plot.... - Belle of the Ranch

Well, howdy there Internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about MTG still being America First, but Trump's lost the plot.

Former US House Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia isn't letting up on Trump now that she's out of office. In fact, after her recent appearance, it seems clear she has no intention of slowing down in her criticism of her one-time ally. She absolutely trashed his foreign policy moves and called out his flimsy pretext.

I think most of us thought her saying that Trump told her he didn't want to release the Epstein files because his friends would get hurt was kind of the last stone she'd throw. Apparently not. She said, "We campaigned and I went to countless Trump rallies and stood on the stage with the president and stood on the stage with other Republican candidates and I said, "America First. No more regime change, no more foreign wars, no more foreign intervention. Enough of this. That's what America First means."

She went on calling out Trump's foreign adventurism, saying, "Militarily invading a country, killing people in the process, arresting their leader and taking them out, then claiming this is for the Venezuelan people, and saying all the charges are about drugs, but then turning around and literally every single statement is about Venezuelan oil and how it belongs to America."

She also cast doubt on Trump's whole narrative that seems to be being quickly abandoned by MAGA anyway when she pointed out that while she was in Congress, she served on the House Homeland Security Committee. When they were talking about the illicit substances pouring into the country, she said it wasn't Venezuela that we were ever talking about.

During her appearance on ABC's The View, she just kept going. She pointed out that Trump's actions in Venezuela actually weakened the United States. She asked the simple question that will be used by foreign powers for years to come. "If it's okay to go into Venezuela and arrest Maduro, then why are we telling China you can't go and take Taiwan? Why are we telling Russia you can't go take Ukraine?”

From there, she once again stated she wasn't planning on running for any public office anytime soon. She almost seems exhausted repeating herself, but to be fair, her moves perfectly align with somebody whose plan is to continue on in politics with a less divisive persona. She was asked if she'd go back to Congress if Trump asked her to. She said, "Absolutely not. The way he treated me, no.”

One of the more interesting developments that might get overlooked because of how thoroughly she trashed his foreign policy and because of all those juicy sound bites she's created is that she refused to commit to staying in the Republican party. It seems incredibly unlikely that she's trying to recast herself as a Democrat so that leaves third parties.

It's important to remember that in many ways MTG is representative of a lot of Trump's base. Her feelings towards his policies might be a useful barometer.

Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
