Trump's Crypto Grift Is Imploding - The Bulwark (Great NEWS)

Feb 5, 2026 Bulwark Takes
Tim Miller and Catherine Rampell give their takes on the crypto crash, why Bitcoin and meme coins are plunging, and what the sell-off says about speculation, interest rates, and the broader economy. They break down why crypto hasn’t held up as an inflation hedge, how rising rates are squeezing risky assets, and why Trump-world’s deep exposure to crypto and speculative stocks suddenly looks a lot more precarious.

It's almost like cryoto 'coin' isn't real money. Hmmmm

this happened a week ago, and first i'm hearing ......

The U.S. government added millions of dollars’ worth of Bitcoin to its Strategic Reserve, then blockchain data showed the wallet was emptied.

The transfer involved $6.3 million in seized Bitcoin from the Samourai Wallet case. Under U.S. rules, those coins are supposed to stay on the government’s balance sheet. What happened next is why the move is drawing attention far beyond the crypto world.
