Let's talk about Trump, Obama, apes, the predictable, and other news.... - Belle of the Ranch

Well, howdy there internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about Trump, Obama, and the predictable outcome.

Okay. Trump posted something to his social media. It depicted former President Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama as apes. The White House initially defended the post, saying, "Please stop the fake outrage and report on something today that actually matters to the American public." But eventually, Trump caved and the post was removed. Probably because Republican Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, who is black, a close ally of Trump, and chair of the powerful National Republican Senatorial Committee, said he was “praying it was fake because it's the most racist thing I've seen out of this White House. The president should remove it.”

First, it being the most racist is a clear indication that there exists a list of other racist things coming from the White House and that brings me to the point. As soon as this came out, the media immediately shifted gears and dutifully started covering it. It seems like every time the news cycle gets too bad for Trump, he posts to social media a mini scandal pops off and the cycle changes.

Look, Trump's supporters and those who might swing his way decided long ago that being racist, being misogynistic, and so on are not deal breakers for them. Too much of the United States simply does not care. It's sad, but it's true. I'm going to follow the White House's advice and report on some things that people who write off his racism might care about.

Reporting said layoffs in January were the highest they've been since the Great Recession.

US forces are reportedly boots on the ground in Nigeria because his Christmas strikes didn't work.

Trump's trade wars have backfired and our allies are realigning with China or shopping for trading partners in the Mid-East, hurting the US economy.

Trump's lack of dealmaking abilities is so apparent the US is hurtling toward more unfunded government agencies.

Trump's Iran strikes failed so badly, he's back in negotiations with the country while Iran is seizing oil tankers in the region.

His Venezuela operation was so ill-planned, it has oil companies saying they aren't going to drop serious cash in the country.

He's created a split with NATO so big that the countries are setting up consulates in Greenland to show support for their ally and to mock Trump.

Trump had to back off his criticism of the UK ceding control of the islands with Diego Garcia.

Allied combat vets who fought for us in Afghanistan have protested at our embassy after Trump's insults.

Trump promised to cut electricity bills in half. They're actually going up.

He got himself embroiled in another weird scandal by reportedly saying he'd release funding if he got Dulles and Penn Station renamed after him.

Job openings have plummeted.

A new NPR PBS News Marist poll shows that Americans disapprove of his handling of the economy at the highest level since he first took office in 2017.

Truly a Golden Age.

Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
