Let's talk about signs of Trump's Iran mess lasting months more.... - Belle of the Ranch
Well, howdy there Internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about signs of Trump's Iran mess lasting months more.
We're getting multiple signs that Trump has lost control of the situation in the strait and that the disruptions and problems may continue for months to come. This is of course after Trump said it would only take four or five weeks, but now eight weeks later is saying there is no time frame.
Now we have reporting that says the Pentagon has told Congress it would take up to 6 months to clear the mines in the Strait of Hormuz. Now a Pentagon spokesperson has denied this reporting, but their credibility is a little thin right now. The Pentagon said, "The Washington Post has made clear they care more about advancing an agenda than truth."
Meanwhile, separate reporting seems to indicate that the Navy is having a real issue with locating up to 20 mines deployed by Iran. The mines will continue to cause delays in the strait as long as they're unaccounted for. This development is not a welcome one for Trump and the Republicans who refuse to reign in this war. 6 months, that's October. The mines could take all the way up until the midterms to deal with.
The only one bit of good news that is available on this topic is one that Trump is going to be upset by anyway because it undermines his whole worldview when it comes to Europe and NATO. After Trump failed to resolve the situation and ran his mouth on the world stage about the strait being open when it wasn't and about how NATO wouldn't help the most embarrassing thing possible for Trump is going down. British divers training to deploy to the strait to clean up Trump and Hegseth's mess. The British forces are apparently getting ready to ride in like Winston Wolf to clean up after two guys who pulled the trigger on something they shouldn't have. The car didn't hit a bump.
All of this just amounts to a list of signs that this is not likely to end soon. And then we have another sign. The ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee saying it's not likely to end soon.
Senator Jack Reed of Rhode Island was talking to Treasury Secretary and former soybean man Scott Bessent. As Bessent tried to suggest the war would be over soon and gas prices would magically return to normal. Reed was apparently not incredibly happy about the wishful thinking he was hearing and said, "Well, from the perspective of the Armed Services Committee, it's not likely to end soon."
At time of recording, Brent is back over $100 per barrel.
All of this news is coming out at the same time as Trump ordering thousands of more troops to the region. It's starting to look like Republicans started yet another forever war. It's important to remember that congressional Republicans could have stopped this any time. Hopefully, we'll see smarter people talk to Trump and advise him to bow out of this before there is no way out.
Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
