Muhammad bin Salman, or MBSthe millennial crown prince of Saudi Arabiaappears increasingly invincible. With the war in Ukraine disrupting energy supplies, Western leaders are eager to get their hands on his oil. But should they worry about the young princes power?

(10,800 posts)that support Ted Cruz, Ken Paxton, or Greg Abbott in Texas - just to name a few I am familiar with.
But let's face it, most voters do not even know who they are voting for. Unlike those of us that participate in the DU forum and a really interested in politics, the average voter only knows a candidate based on a couple of things.
Which party he aligns with (I still don't understand someone calling themselves an independent), name recognition, or endorsements by someone - especially for down ballot candidates.
This makes me wonder - who are these people that like the Jim Jordons or Ted Cruz or even Trumps. Do they like the nasty rhetoric, does it attract them? Is this the America that I live in? It's got to be or something is drastically wrong with our system.
I hope it is a system failure because I hate to think the majority of Americans support people so offensive that you wouldn't even want your children to listen to them.

(65,062 posts)too embittered and afraid of a rapidly changing nation and world along with the feeling of being "left behind," too many times for good reason.
The Republican Party has long been capitalizing on that fear to stay in power, but *rump took it to a new level which in turn had a somewhat normalizing effect on the toilet that he was dumping in, that being the people you cited.
From a philosophical standpoint, if your only choice (and it isn't but if you believed it was) Hitler, how would Mussolini look?
