These Essential Workers Have Reached Meltdown Status - Thom Hartmann

Pharmacy workers, largely from CVS and Walgreens, are mad as hell and they’re not going to take it anymore…they’ve had enough. Pharma protests, non-union but organized, have been happening across the country, seeking relief from under-staffing and asking for paychecks they can actually LIVE on. Will these giant corporations meet demands before employees go nuclear? - Aired on 11/01/2023.

Though Thom mentioned Rite Aid in this report, I find them better at overall customer service and responsiveness than CVS. I'll be switching my Medicare Plan D in January so I can shop at Rite Aid -- and pay MORE -- to escape the inadequacies of CVS. Besides their frustrating pharmaceutical services, most the stores I'm my area and poorly stocked and slovenly. Yuck.

I stopped going there over two years ago. I go to a local pharmacy that treats me right and actually has a better Medicare D plan than Walgreens. I just renewed my Medicare D yesterday.

I’ve managed to hang onto my health until past traditional retirement age, so what about obtaining work as a pharmacy technician and fight for change from within - including union organizing activity? I guess I’m having ‘legacy’ anxieties.

They even have pharmacies in grocery stores now, at least they do around here. My brother gets his prescription at one of them. And I admit I go to Walmart and the pharmacy couldn't be more helpful. My doctor named a couple of pharmacies in the area that had a lower markup (I used to go to CVS near my office) and the Walmart was closest. They always ask if I have any questions and if it's a new prescription for me, like a short term one from my dentist, I'm required to speak to the pharmacist who advises me when to take it and mentions any possible side effects, like not driving until I get used to it.
