(13,334 posts)Its an election strategy. Hes betting the country wont vote for a black woman.
Plus, I think he also did it for attention. He ruled the media!

(10,171 posts)I don't get that at all....He already has his rabid base who'll vote for him. I don't see how this would be a strategy....

or to appear non-racist, imho.
I believe his purpose was to declare that he was NOT concerned with getting more votes than Harris; that his plan is to rely on red state legislators, Boards of Elections, and Attorneys General to mess with the electors contrary to the popular vote counts in their states. That seems to me to be the most plausible conclusion about his behavior.

(31,155 posts)He thought he was making inroads with black voters. He was thinking that by saying Harris isn't really black, more black people would turn against her. I think he also thought if he attacked blacks to their face he could change the narrative to moderates taking his side because he is white and he just assumes most white people are like him deep down with some racist tendencies.
Im proceeding from what he actually did and said on stage. I am speculating that he never actually thought there was much to gain in this interview. Remember he has repeatedly said, I dont need the votes. He later backed off on that, but it seemed clear to me what he really meant (as I originally stated). I think he was conveying confidence that he didnt need votes because of his plan to obstruct the counting of the proper counting of electoral college votes.

(10,171 posts)I completely agree with you. I don't see a strategy here. IMHO, if anything, it made him look even worse to everybody...(except, of course, his rabid base).
