Sanford was always a libertarian, and as Governor fought as much with his own party as the Democrats. As a House member after that, He was strongly anti-Trump, and Trump backed his opponent in the primary and Sanford lost by about 5% as a popular incumbent. The woman Trump backed was so extreme the Charleston seat went Dem for the first time in over a decade.
Graham knew Trump would take him out in a primary if he continued to oppose him. Graham is a sad little man with no values or principle, and his Senate seat is all he has.
