All that cheap-assed gold leaf is just nauseating to me.

I used to really love the green plants over the mantel because it would have been consistent with some of the decorative touches present, even with the first Presidents. And, I don't doubt that most of the portraits were NOT framed in gold leaf either. It isn't attractive. It just looks like a cheap-assed attempt at pretension.
