I thought that was just perfect, Colbert and Kimmel appearing on the other's show on the same night
They've been long time friends, but now they have even more in common and can identify with each other like no one else can. 
As for Evie, when Colbert does his holiday card segment she always appears with him, much better than just choosing a random person from the audience. I think she really began to identify with his show when he was doing it from home during Covid and she was his only live audience.
