Related: About this forumTrump interview goes off the deep end - Another Day - Brian Tyler Cohen
Donald Trump takes another bold stance
with his strong words that mean
absolutely nothing. This is just another
day.
In life, there are leaders and there are
followers. And sure, there are also
incestuous hand-job givers, but those
folks are pretty niche. And sometimes,
in very rare instances, there are even
leaders who don't lead at all. And as
luck would have it, America currently
employs one of those very specific
people.
Have you watched the video
stopping? Uh, I watched everything.
Yeah, I watch everything. I see a lot of
things. Um,
and do you believe that that second
strike was necessary?
Uh, well, it looked like they were
trying to turn back over the boat, but I
don't get involved in that. That's up to
them.
Wow. How very commander-in-chiefy.
I don't get involved. It's up to them.
So, Trump diligently watches every
single strike in the situation room, but
also isn't too interested either. Guess
he's just back there with the remote
looking to see what else is on. Guys,
I've seen every single app of Venezuela
boat strike. Let's keep going on
Stranger Things. Yeah, Donald Trump's
completely principled stance on not
taking a principled stance seemed to be
the theme of this entire political
interview.
The defense secretary,
should he testify, Pete Hegseth, under
oath before Congress about that
controversial second strike on the
alleged drug boat in October?
I don't care if he does. He can if he
wants. I don't care.
You know,
do you think he should?
I don't care. I would say do it if you
want. He's doing a great job.
What a shocker. Trump thinks this guy is
doing a great job.
Today, we have a commander-in-chief who
fights for all of you and fights for our
country every single day. And with
Donald J. Trump, that commander has your
back. And that means something to the
men and women of America. And that's why
we're seeing a record surge in
recruiting. And you know what? You know
why they don't like him? He's got the
guts to do it. He's got the guts to say,
"I'm going to federalize the police that
are that don't work. I'm gonna bring in
the National Guard. I'm gonna bring in
federal marshals.
Wait, that's why people don't like him?
I thought people don't like him because
he happily posts AI videos of fighter
jets taking dumps on Americans
exercising their constitutional right to
protest. I thought they didn't like him
because he talks about immigrants like
this.
Her friends are garbage.
I thought people don't like him because
this is how he talks to members of the
press.
Why do you blame the Biden
administration?
Because they let him in. Are you stupid?
Are you a stupid person? because they
came into on a plane along with
thousands of other people that shouldn't
be here and you're just asking questions
because you're a stupid person
and I thought they didn't like him
because this is how he takes on
everybody's concern that he might have a
conflict of interest.
I mean I could be a stupid person say no
we don't want a free very expensive
airplane. Uh but it was I thought it was
a great gesture and I think it was a
gesture because of the fact that we help
have helped and continue to we will we
will continue to uh all of those
countries Saudi Arabia UAE but I guess
I'm totally wrong and it's because of
his guts. You know like the guts it
takes to wage war on drugs and then
somehow rationalize this maneuver. You
pardoned former Honduran President Juan
Orlando Hernandez and let him out of
prison even though he was convicted in a
massive international drug trafficking
scheme. How is that zero tolerance on
drug trafficking?
Well, I don't know him and I know very
little about him.
And who better to not know anything
about yet still issue a pardon to than
international drug traffickers. The less
you know, the better, right? Probably
why Republicans refuse to pass
legislation regulating these loud pointy
bang bang things. They don't know
anything about those silly things and
what they do. But while Trump may seem
non-committal, he was actually more than
happy to set the record straight when it
came to the war between Russia and
Ukraine.
On Sunday, your son, Donald Trump Jr.,
responded to a reporter's question about
whether you will quote walk away from
Ukraine. And your son said, "I think he
may." Is that correct?
No, it's not correct. But it's not
exactly wrong.
Wow. What a shock that a man with that
level of commitment to words has
exchanged three sets of vows. The
reality is outside of adding more zeros
to his bank account and gold leafing to
his office, Donald Trump doesn't really
have a consistent stance on anything.
Not on boat strikes, not on the people
he pardons, and not on the war between
Russia and Ukraine that he promised to
end on day one. Because consistency is
the gateway to accountability, and
accountability is Donald Trump's
kryptonite. You know, in the same way
Matt Gates's kryptonite is any girl born
after 2007. That is why Make America
Great Again is such a perfect piece of
branding for this guy. Because like him,
it says something without actually
saying anything. What great looks like
is completely vague and when again is is
totally undefined. In some ways, the
MAGA slogan has the same vague
brilliance of Nike except nobody wants
to wear Trump's footwear. But that hazy
abstract feeling of patriotism is the
only thing Trump is really going for.
Which is why when he is incredibly
inconsistent or completely
non-committal, it doesn't come off that
way to his base because he never really
promised them he'd be anything
different. There's a reason that
Republicans don't bring up his total
lack of healthcare plan.
You've been in office three and a half
years. You don't have a plan.
Well, we haven't had uh excuse me, you
heard me yesterday. We're signing a
healthcare plan within 2 weeks. a full
and complete health care plan. That was
2020. Somehow in the span of five years,
Nick Cannon was able to produce nine
kids, but Trump can't produce one piece
of legislation. Or how about Trump's
tariffs?
Would you be open to a pause in tariffs
to allow for negotiations?
Well, we're not looking at that. We have
many, many uh countries that are coming
to negotiate deals with us, and they're
going to be fair deals.
Nope, not looking at it. Won't even
glance at it. And yet,
President Trump just truth out, saying,
quote, "I have authorized a 90day
pause." The president here announcing a
90-day pause on tariffs, though it's not
clear specifically which countries this
pause is going to apply to. That's
right. Expecting Donald Trump to be
clear or consistent about something is
like expecting RFK to work out an actual
workout close. Not going to happen. The
most consistent thing about Donald Trump
is his commitment to inconsistency. He
was responsible for Operation Warp
Speed, but also questioned the
legitimacy of COVID vaccines. Trump
thinks abortion legislation should be
left up to the states, but he also said
that he'd support a national ban at 15
weeks. Trump said New York's soon to be
mayor was an America-hating communist
lunatic, but also claimed,
"I met with a man who's a very rational
person,"
and I'm sure Manny feels the same.
Donald Trump doesn't take a principled
stance because the man has no
principles. He is a wealthy,
opportunistic conman who will say
anything that could be perceived as
decisive, but in the end is merely just
a collection of ambiguous and
contradictory action words that give off
a false air of confidence and knowledge.
It's not correct, but it's not exactly
wrong.
You know what? I'll take it.
